This morning I passed a weigh station when my prepass flashed red but the lighted sign said closed. Can I still get a ticket if they didn't chase me down? It looked like there were people in there and possibly the doors to the inspection bays were open. I know I should have went in just to be on the safe side. I guess I'm just stubborn.

If you get red but they say closed, then don't go in.
If you get green and they say come in, then you would only be obligated to go in if you are carrying a Hazmat load or oversize load.

Now, if you get a No-Light or Red and they say Come In, but you pass and one of their super cars is parked diagonally behind a bush next to the highway then you better push that 62mph speed goverened truck to the max of 62½mph because they're gonna get cha!

If the lane going in is full they will flash the "closed" light to prevent trucks from backing up onto the freeway...

    Closed is closed.

As far as prepass is concerned you blew the scale. It was red and there are compliance sensors to check if you went in or not. Don't matter what the highway sign says, even if its closed and nobody is there. It's an electronic device with no shades of grey of common sense it does what it does in black and white as it was programed to do.

If you get nothing but red lights for the next 30 days you'll know why. Probably not, but it is possible, it depends on why it was red.

Even with hazmat in Ohio, you can bypass if you get a green light and you have the "uniform of hazmat alliance" permit, (uniform of something)

Some dude shined on the reweigh arrow at the POE going north on 15 into Utah. I was behind him, and he hammered down. He made it. Bear was coming after him, and bear stopped just as he would have come into view of him. Then the ' dude ' got off a little ways up and looked like he was going hide in the Pilot. Wonder if they got him when he went to exit the state?

Closed means Cops Laying On Scale Eating Donuts...if you pull in, you disturb their donut time...then they get mad...never mess with the man on a donut break
