I currently drive for Sygma, delivering groceries to Panera Bread Co. overnight. The wife doesn't particularly like being home alone with our baby at night in the neighborhood we currently live in. I'm not sure, but I think Mclane runs during the day? I saw one at Applebee's at 7am so he was either just starting his day or finishing it up.
I have 9 stops a night, taking about 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the size of each order. I heard Mclane does around 24 which means the customers must not get a whole lot per stop. Anyway, my main question is does anybody know for sure if they run days, nights, multiple days out etc? And is the pay comparable? A few of our guys here in St Louis make 90k. Also do you run with a helper or solo?
Any advice would be awesome. Thanks

I just hired on to McLane to run 4 days to NYC & LI,the pay is good, benefits good and 401k is better than most.Ill be running nights,to avoid all the traffic down there In a brand new Volvo I Shift or FL Sleeper and a co driver.Mon,Tues on,Wed off,Thurs, Fri on,Sat,Sun off.The avg stops per truck im told is between 16 and 18 stops per 32' trailer. They also have 3 days on,4 days off runs.Depending where you are and what your doing youll prabally be running at night, but I would check w/ McLane 1st being as I am new there and will be working out of a drop yard about 4 hrs from NE Division HQ I dont have all the scoop yet. They do run a 4 day orientation at NE and you get pd an hrly rate and they pd .54 cpm to drive up,all miles in between, and back,1 pd meal a day and a nice hotel. There are drivers at McLane that make that and more I was told w/ some time.

There are 2 sides to Mclane.. Grocery which does gas stations stuff like that usually run teams out for 20+ hours a time like mpow66m did. Then there is foodservice run solo with option for helper. They usually do Taco Bell kfc Pizza Hut Buffalo Wild Wings long john silvers A&W. Depending on center could be home everyday or out 2-3.

1200 dollars a week is money in the bank for me. I need that. I'm 31 years old with 4 girls that I'm supporting. I'm pretty healthy and I'd be willing to sacrifice working harder for a bigger check.
I just did all the drug testing and strength test yesterday after my interview. I think everything went really well and I'm looking forward in starting with Mclane. The background collection agency contacted me though and said they couldn't get in contact with one of my employers. I told them I didn't have further information and just gave what I had. Hopefully that doesn't put me out of contention.
I keep hearing "our drivers are averaging $75k and $82k a year, with our top driver at $137k". Sounds great, but I'm taking it with a grain of salt and just want to earn a good living. If I get the job, I'll keep a log of my experiences. I'd be working out of Manassas VA. -
I think manassas is a foodservice house. $$ is true I'm not a driver waiting for a grow your own spot to open.. But I talk to a lot of the drivers and 99% are between 90-100k here in orlando. I have a friend that works 4nights a wk starts at 10pm home by 9am does 105-110yr. I know when I interviewed they told me avg driver made 90k and first year drivers avg 75-80k since u won't have a bid route and have some training hours etc that will pay lessIronRyan Thanks this.

That's crazy good money imo. I also heard that they're getting most if not all of Bojangles and that should really open up even more work. I know that the work is hard but I look at it like you're paying me very well to work out and get in shape and I'm not even OTR!? I'll take that... but let me not speak so soon.

Hmm I didn't know they where getting any of the bojangles.. I know Charlotte and Atlanta where getting them. With Charlotte suppost to get 300 something stores.
