So I am driving along loaded up grossing 130,000lbs.. I go through a town doing 50km/hr when I get to the 80km/hr sign a star to speed up... As I am going I see this car passing another truck that is going west.. I am far enough back that the car should have been able to pass as I was only doing 60 or so at this point.. When I figure the car isn't going to make the pass I start to slow down and move over.. Avoiding a head-on which would most def of killed the person in the car..
If you look at video she started passing at 1:44 and by 1:55 it was to close to pass.. So she had a full 10 seconds to get past the truck.. Shouldn't have taken nearly that long to make a pass... She almost hit the other truck near the end but missed it by inches... There is no way that other truck couldn't see in his mirrors.
2 things that bother me about this..
1) The fact that the car was passing a truck that was probably doing 80, so that car should have be able to pass.. Or the car when they seen me and knew they weren't going to make it should have put the brakes on and got behind truck. Instead they flash lights at me (as if I didn't see the, and I was already slowing down and moving before they flashed anyhow). She waited until the last few seconds to put the brakes on... If I didn't have a shoulder to take she would have been dead..
2) I was dumbfounded that the "professional" truck driver she was trying to pass didn't let off so she could get ahead of him nor did he even move over to the shoulder to give more room.. It's like he wasn't paying attention or has the intent to purposely allow an accident to happen.. The women in car was at fault 100% and made a mistake that could have ended bad. That doesn't mean she should be given the death penalty... I believe I might be slightly more amazed about the unprofessionalism of the trucker then that of the women in the car.. Both are idiots in my books...

Close one. Glad it all worked out. I had a near miss on Tuesday. Some idiot tried to pass a pickup truck in the fog. Visibility was maybe 300 feet. I had to take the shoulder in a hurry. Thank the maker there was a shoulder to take. Otherwise, I might have ended up wheels up.

Frock, just watch the last 7 seconds of the video?
My opinion will forever be tainted by the drivel ( beforehand) -
And he's flashing you as if 'you're' in the way....

I hope she had to change her underwear after that! Stupid #####! Sure the other guy could have moved over but I don't think he did anything wrong by maintaining speed. Had he slowed down, she may not have had the time to tuck in behind him at the last second. Usually in those situations I lay on the horn and the finger goes out the window at the idiot.

It could have gone either way.. He could have slowed down and she was passing (so going faster) she could have got in front of him. Or he could have sped up and she could have tucked behind in.. In any case, without the factor of his speed I still think he should have moved over.. Technically he did do something illegal, when in a position like this the vehicles doing nothing wrong (so me and other truck) are suppose to move over if possible to give car room between them.. That does not mean if you have a soft shoulder that you must because that could also cause big problems.. Even if that was no law regarding moving over to avoid head-on collision I still think out of respect and being a professional driver you should be making professional decisions, and not moving over to help avoid an accident is not very professional in my books... Yes technically he didn't do anything wrong, but nor did I and I was the only one out of 3 vehicles that actually did something haha
The good thing is at least I was about to avoid the situation and the person(s) in the other car can live to see another day... And I didn't end up having a very bad long day dealing with police, fire trucks or ambulances...tinytim Thanks this. -
Is the date on your dashcam right? Might want to fix it....just sayin'.....
