OK so I said all that and boom, I roll into Seattle terminal and the very next night roll out with a load to California go figure. -
OK so where am I, -- got reloaded in Seattle terminal for a 2 stopper California run. Reload in Los Angeles bound for Miami FL. Problem was at Saturday morning 0200 AM they call and say load is ready. Paperwork shows they loaded a company pool trailer-- uhh no. So luckily they still had some more freight for Miami and could load my trailer. Bonus was instead of 44,000 the first load was, my trailer was loaded with just 15,000 pounds. Ended up not getting out of there til late Saturday afternoon. Holiday week so fully 7 days to deliver LA to Miami what to do?
Ran up to Laughlin NV to park at Harrah's casino overnight and play my craps game. Did really well. Go to bed and later log onto Harrah's website to check out my offers. Hook up with a free deluxe room for Sunday. Cool I can have some adult beverages. After only 3 drinks was feeling the awesome buzz but somehow we think if we drink more the better we are going to feel right? lol lost all my money because I kept making math mistakes. Well that and the girls on each end of the tub were calling each other sugarbits (well actually the R rated version of that) trying to hit each other's chest when it was their turn to throw the dice. Anyway, tons of fun just meandering across the nation for the holiday week. Head back west next week and go home.mountaingote and kantcallit Thank this. -
OK, so took that light load down to Miami and knowing freight outbound from deep Florida is cheap, didn't even bother trying to call the broker and deadheaded up to Cherokee North Carolina to the Harrah's casino up there.
Had never been there before and wanted to check it out. Had a route picked out but stupid me follows the stupider blue line on the GPS and ends up on a route, Big Trucks Not Recommended. OK how bad can it be? GPS says I'm only 21 miles away, if I backtrack I will run out of time and have to do a 10 somewhere. Long story short, made it in there the hard way. Good news is I know how to get in there the easy way next time.
It is a very nice blinged out casino. The Cherokee tribe has a ton of influence on it even though it says Harrah's out front. Where I can normally score free Harrah's rooms Sundays through Thursday nights anywhere at any of their properties, the best they would offer me was 1 free night, plus full price mandatory stay second night. I ended up getting a room at the ratty motel across the street. Casinos will give you free drinks while you're playing. This one does too, however they charge you for alcohol. They are also not connected to the big jackpots on the progressive slots like Wheel of Fortune, you see sometimes upwards of $1million jackpot, the Cherokees have the progressives limited to $25,000 max.
They were hosting the World Series of Poker that week so that was cool to see the high rollers come down to the craps tables making their $1000 dollar bets.
Got my fill there and called the Charlotte terminal. Got a load out to Salt Lake City. They did have a Spokane/Seattle run but they needed the Spokane run done in 2 or 2 and a half days something like that. I run 100% legal and they decided they would put it on a team truck instead.
My dad had a big heart attack 3.5 years ago and now has the big C going on. Deadheaded up to southern Washington to see the folks and spend some time. Big mudslide in Woodland WA closed northbound I-5 so wasn't able to get up to Seattle for a reload and spent several days with the folks.
Got up to Seattle eventually and loaded for St Paul MN terminal where i'm at now and will be reloading right back for Seattle. Will be getting loaded from there to California, ex mom in law has a brain bleed going on. -

So I was inbound to St Paul terminal for a Friday night unload/reload but they could not get my trailer empty and reloaded that quick. So we made a deal to drop my trailer, grab their pool trailer to head back loaded to Seattle.
This is why I like having my own trailer, this is the fourth pool trailer I have picked up with problems. 2 different trailers had burned out upper lights that I ended up paying for myself, turned in the receipts and not reimbursed. 3rd trailer blew a tire and called the 800 number to have the company pay and fix it, they dropped the ball and I again ended up paying it and again did not get reimbursed. Now this trailer I pick up has bad brakes. Jumping thru hoops to get it fixed on their dime. -

So finally got ahold of someone to set up the repairs on the trailer brakes. Good info to know for next time. Anyway, took them almost 2 hours to get me in, I spent the time running brake checks, tug tests back and forth and bleed down tests. By the time they were ready the trailer brakes were working again. We figure they were out of adjustment or the cold weather allowed moisture in there to freeze or a combination of that. I figure a lot of these owner ops go down the mountain grades using only the trolley brake.
Stopped here in Fergus Falls MN to grab a Bison burger. Pretty good. Have had Yak, Ostrich,Yakisoba,Elk, Moose, Venison,Goat and Rabbit.
