An hour or so ago I was looking at the NOAA site and it looks like things will clear a bit sooner, and I had planned to head out tomorrow sometime to get a bit ahead of 'weather' schedule.

Then I get a message from Scott, I guess everyone did, about the conditions along my route.
The suggestion was to wait 24 hours after things look good to let things clear up some more.

He might treat us like children at times, but it does seem prudent to be patient.

I'm not even loaded. It's just a reposition move and I'm mt.
I guess I'll go with my first thought to just give enough time for the roads to clear completely.

My subway sandwich froze to the windshield. Had to peel it off. There is still ice on the inside windshield even though I have been driving for 2 more hours with heat on after removing the sandwich. Did not turn on defroster, afraid it will crack the glass.

3 degrees here in Fargo, made good distance today-- started in Columbus MT.

And I'm wondering why anyone would paste a sandwich to a windshield in the first place.
I've never really had the urge to place a sandwich on my glass.

Was the crust dry and you wanted to add some moisture?
Was it a quick, but not so clean, way of removing some frost?

And I guess if you are not using the defroster, it will stay frosty.
You could always start out with a very low heat setting, then move up?

No I had eaten half the foot long sub and put the other half up on the dash for later. You can see it in the picture I posted. Anyway after only an hour up there the little moisture that was in the sub turned to ice on the inside of the windshield, was just tripping out on that.

    I see a wrapped sandwich.
So it wasn't really the sandwich, it was the paper that stuck.
And it must have been moisture from the windshield, and not the sandwich or the paper, unless you put it up there wet.

Still, it is a bit strange that it could stick to the windshield.

My guess is that you licked the paper just before placing it against the windshield.
Do you also have a video of you peeling it from the windshield? That would be cool!

Woke up this morning and checked out TexDot and decided to follow Scott's message. Was showing blowing snow and icy conditions from Abilene to past Odessa and last night instead of snow here we got freezing rain and I am looking at the trucks pulling into here from the west and I want nothing to do with that and the winds are still strong

I slept late this morning before I checked conditions.
It looked OK so I drove to Amarillo. I'll go the rest of the way to Dallas tomorrow morning.

My Coleman cooler died yesterday. Luckily I didn't have too much to throw away this morning.
The Love's I was at didn't have one, but I was able to replace it at the next Love's I came to.
That one lasted about 3 years, so not bad.

Flying hook, El Paso. What a difference waiting one day made. It was like almost there was no snow storm

I'm just south of Dallas at a Love's.

So I get to the Lancaster terminal this afternoon and the guy says he is going to check out my trailer.
I turn on the lights and he walks around, checking, then tells me to apply the brakes.
I do so and he gives me a thumbs up to say everything is good.
I pull out and park, go in to get some updated permits, then head out to my next pick up.

The thing is, I had a trailer tail light that was not working.
What is the point of the trailer check, if they don't fix things - or even say anything?

I knew about the tail light, but I was running during daylight hours so I waited to fix it.
And yes, it is fixed now.

But again, what is the point of stopping all incoming trucks if you are not going to really do anything?
