I've seen trailers with xpoexpress being pulled by owner ops quite frequently.
Thinking it may be a different company.

While I continue to get 1800 mile weeks, XPO continues to Advertise for owner operators.
paul_4lp Thanks this. -
And they've resorted to hiring many many social media ppl. I've seen at least 6 different people doing it.
I called one of em out for being a ########. Had pics of freight when she was recruiting for truckload. Idiot.
Took the picture down and started a new thread.
Sorry to hear dream.paul_4lp Thanks this. -
in my opinion most companies that are using owner operators are using them to save money, often times to the extreme where the owner operator works until they cant buy fuel or their truck breaks down and they cant afford to fix it. there are companies like fedex which are basically the opposite of that, but from what i have seen most are more towards the other end where theyre leased slave ships, bankrupt one and lure the next one in. i would like to hear from drivers with xpo company or owner operator to see how they have done in the past.

Double yellow ran the numbers for Conway and is off doing the own authority thing.
Numbers were pretty pitiful leased.
Those guys aren't owner operators those guys are wannabes too lazy to find their own work.
Every one of em that has popped thru here lost ### and found better situations thankfully.paul_4lp Thanks this. -
I been driving for Conway Truckload(now XPO) for many years and well still here..lol..To help out anyone deciding to come here, this is the latest of the greatest from what I have encountered(not really much change since XPO took over, however I still monitor things, anyways here is:
1. Per mile pay is slightly below the above average, but they look at the entire package as they say. Im not totally unhappy with it, as its better then some and less then others.
2. Trucks, no APU's , no fridge/freezer. I got my own so enough said, Im a good cook and don't eat at truck stops, again this is me. Their fair on idling, I never been brought in once on this. However there are many areas of the country where idling is illegal and you can be ticketed, I never have but this does prevent a inconvenience, etc. They do have the premium XM Sirius Satellite radio they pay for. Trucks being ordered for the most part are automatics, this stinks in my opinion, a lot of companies are doing this for that great mpg so they say, I have a friend that drives for another company they have both 10 speeds and automatics, his company gives you a choice of either autos or 10 spd manual transmission. I myself have a manual (13 spd) love it to, I drove an automatic years back and hated it, again my opinion. Also no more tag axle trucks are being bought,(thank God), those were a towing disaster in the winter especially, they were getting stuck at fuel islands and on the flats in the snow...lol.
3. The communication is very good, fleet manager good, and they also have what is called "Voices are Heard, which is like every other week, you can call in live and ask any question you want from pay, trailers, trucks, home-time, shipper issues, another words anything and you will have all the executives of various departments on hand to answer you live over these conference calls,or if ou dont want to call in live you can email your question with your name and truck #.
4. They have an automatic truck/trailer wash in Laredo and a 2- bay semi automatic truck/trailer wash in Joplin,MO. If you aren't given a load through these areas and you been at lest 28 days away from either, then you they will pay for the truck wash only wash at a Blue Beacon.
5. Equipment maintenance is proactive and you will get a message over the QC from RS to stop and have your PM done at either Joplin terminal, TA, Speedco, or at an XPO Freight terminal which require an appointment. I always try to go to Speedco, as its faster. If you dont do this after the selected miles they give you in advance you will be blocked from your next dispatch, so when you get the message try to get it done before you hit that miles threshold.
6. Home-Time is very good here, give them maximum 8 day notice and they will get you home. I haven't any complaints about it over the years. If you have an emergency they will do all they can to expedite you home, according to your needs.
7. They been replacing older trailers with new ones for like the last 3 years, wish they would have started sooner, but they are doing this on a fairly large scale and any trailers older then 10 year are being taken out of service and gotten rid of with replacement of new. You still will get a trailer that a driver dropped off and didnt report it to RS, so yeah you will need to take it to a shop. Note this is not paid for while your getting this trailer repaired, unless it goes past 48 hrs.
8. If you have a truck breakdown, RS will get you to a truck dealer, and if it requires a motel, they arrange the motel accommodations, they motel is usually the standard 2 or 3 star name brand, as they use corporate motel accommodations for money savings(need I say more..lol). They will reimburse you for a taxi to and from the dealership to the motel if the dealer has no shuttle service. Keep your receipts, reimbursements here are very good, always on my next check after I scan them in, again excellent. If your in Joplin and they find in the inspection or mechanical issues, all drivers with loads take priority in line up for repairs before driver with no loads. If a motel is required they have a shuttle bus, and arrangements at the La Quinta in Joplin. You are required when you pass through Joplin to stop at the terminal and have your trailer inspected and any truck issues also, the only exception is if your load is already approved under a very hot load to pass thru via the QC notes for that load your hauling. Breakdown pay of most any kind is effective after 48 hrs of breakdown(most of us want that changed to 24hrs),the breakdown pay is fair better then some and less then others).
9. They run you legal, I haven't been told to violate my logs, or if you get a shipper that loads you heavy, go to a CAT scale and proves so, they will send you back to the shipper and get it reworked or resolved where it is legal. So if you like to run legal in every area and don't create violations, their good about this.
10. Miles in my opinion have gotten better since XPO took over. They have gotten rid of the entire upper level of management. I always thought we were top heavy anyways.Just my opinion of course. So we have lower and mid level management, and of course the President. Miles can range from 1800 to 3800 miles, average is around 2800 miles estimated.
11. We have Detention pay after 2hrs, Layover pay after 48 hrs, Yearly Productivity Bonus, Quarterly Safety Bonuses, Fuel Opps program has been discontinued, we had it-I did good by it, at this time they are looking to replace it with another fuel bonus program. No inclement weather/shutdown pay, has been brought up many times but to this date no decision to do anything about it.
Everyone has a lil difference of opinion, this is my experience to date and over the years.Last edited: Mar 2, 2016
