Not saying this is the case, but generally speaking, shorter runs pay more per mile to the company. The longer ones could have paid poorly depending on the markets

Maybe so, but it doesn't help when the driver gets paid the same per mile.

They are desperate now. Way to many drivers have left. They are advertising like crazy. ... The ship already has holes in it and it's heading towards an ice berg

it's a shame that this company is gone down to this point... It seemed like they were very good company but seems like the complete and utter ignorance by the people in the office and management and refusal to get things straight will be what leads to their demise

I don't know what's going on.... Seems like a total lack of coordination, after that buyout mess I went through with my last outfit, it seemed like I found a home again. Freight had good miles on it, I didn't have to fight much at all over screwed up delivery times, and it was mostly company booked stuff, with a few broker runs to get me where the "good stuff" was or to get me home. I knew who the people were that I had to call. Maybe there was a problem with a bad trailer, but it got fixed. Now every time I call it gets answered by someone new, and told I'll get a map when I come in the yard... Which seldom happens anymore. After the split I didn't see the yard for at least 6 months even though my truck was way overdue. I kept trying to be loyal and trying to have faith that things would get better and there would be more regular freight but it's been NOTHING but broker runs. Communication has gotten worse. It's almost like that ##### buyout situation all over again. At the same time I need to get that vacation in this summer or spring to take care of my personal end, so my hands are a bit tied. I'm done being loyal to any company anymore. I've gotten betrayed to many times in this industry, and already seen a couple of good companies in the past go good for a while and then implode, either because of it getting handed off, sold, or the owners' next generation taking over. This time it's a family dispute that's got the drivers caught in the middle. I've tried to be as discreet about it as I can but it's gotten old. I've worked with companies that had "zone dispatch" before, but I've never seen such a "musical chairs" mess like I have in the past couple of months. Especially when I have to get a delivery pushed back or there's no appointment on a load I get told again and again "we're working on it" then at the last minute "just go on in and maybe they work you in". To me that says no one bothered doing a thing, and I'm just a stupid driver that will automatically believe that line of bs.

it almost looks like Great Plains was staying afloat because Holland was running them... Kind of makes me wonder for the sudden split that they did last summer and from what I can see I don't know but it looks more and more like Holland threw Great Plains to the curb

Yeah and GP was trash talking all the drivers that left and went to Holland and those drivers are happy with the move they made. .. From what I've seen, the only drivers happy at Great Plains are the ones kissing butt, the teachers pets etc. .. Drivers are dropping like flies ..

It's been a mess that's for sure....I know there's a bunch of animosity between the two companies, but if they are concerned about drivers "defecting" to the other place they should be listening to their reasons for being dissatisfied instead of trashing them when they get fed up and leave. That's the kind of thing that only increases turnover at companies. I can understand a company not being perfect, and making mistakes, but having that "you will be loyal or we will trash you" attitude(if that's what is going on) doesn't help any company. Loyalty has to be earned on both sides between a company and a driver if they want to keep them. But that's none of my business lol. I'm just trying to survive the storm for the time being.

I made it by the yard . The other drivers all had the same complaints about the scheduling,.. appointments,..not being able to or not knowing who to contact. The leave a voice mail and no response... We are working on it and will call you back line.
It does take time to get the right people in the right jobs. But when I see the same problems with different people? ?
When the owners take the night and weekend lines they aware of the problems. And the problems still exist? ?
I would like to see a driver's page on the website where we could be kept up to date on who is doing what and the new pay schedule etc ..
