Bad day at the office.

    This picture was taken the other day on the Idaho side of Teton Pass, WY.
    There are numerous huge signs with flashing lights stating "NO TRAILERS ALLOWED" and "MAX GVW 60,000 LBS" down the road at the town of Victor, and at the ID/WY border. The location of the picture was starting up the base of the pass. The pass is 10% grade for several miles on both sides.

    I suppose that this was a new driver that was following GPS instructions, but Alberston's is a grocery store chain, and certainly they know the appropriate route to take to Jackson (Wyoming, where there is an Albertson's store there).

    I don't know what the fines are, nor how they got that outfit off the mountain as turning around would be tight, and going over the top a bad option as well. I suspect that this driver will never forget this trip though. Teton Pass.jpg

    Main thing is driver load and equipment are safe.some learn by their mistakes and hopefully this driver did.I imagine he was plenty scared.doesn't look like any cops were involved unless they called wrecker.

    The police were definitely involved. They were working on traffic control.
    Yes, I'm glad that nobody was hurt as well.

    Looks like Albertson had another trailer hooked.I can imagine the hairpin turns he had to make before finally coming to a stop and call for help.

    The 60k gross is year around, the no trailer part is from Nov 15th through April 15th I think, and any other time that the pass is snow covered.

    It's hard for me to believe that they would put a new driver on pulling a 40 and a 28 or whatever he had right off the bat, but maybe I'm wrong. I still think that the driver was new to the area and following his GPS for shortest route.

    Judging from his tracks, he was all over the highway scratching his way up to where he made it, and he hadn't thrown any iron on. The wrecker was helping him get onto his chains.

    The common sense thing to do is pull the chains out throw them on the tires and roll backwards onto the chains.
