I have recently opened an LLC trucking business a few months ago. I own one truck and it is leased to a company.
Now, for my business's sake I want to find an advisor that will assist me through taxes, legal stuff, general business assistance, etc.
From you experienced people where do you all suggest I find one? Also I would like an advisor that is primarily focused on trucking since they are obviously more experienced in that field.
Please let me know what options are available.
Thank you!

I went and saw 2 CPA's that didn't know trucking, before asking a friend with 5 trucks who he used.
I went and saw the guy, made sure he was on the same page, understood the LLC thing , and went on.
What area are you in, folks may have local recommendations.brian991219 Thanks this. -
Take a look at these folks...

I am in Virginia. If you can suggest someone who is really experienced in trucking I'd appreciate that because I also need to make a contract between my drivers. Thanks for the reply by the way.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Somebody up your way may have a recommendation - check back later.
Have a small list of questions to take them, specific to your operation, and have some of them pre-answered yourself, to test them. I had one of the 2 I didn't use tell me "Oh yeah, I've done truck drivers/owners taxes before ", but stumbled on LLC 's' Corp questions, and had to look up the per diem rate.
Good luck. -
Not sure if this still exists, but at one time the SBA had a thing called SCORE (Service Corp Of Retired Executives). It's a free service. You bring in your business plan and they hook you up with someone with experience as close to your plan as possible. They will go through your plan with a fine toothed comb. I did that with three of my early business ventures and the advice was very helpful.
That being said, I'm not sure if they would have retired executives from the transportation industry. Your best bet is to check out the Owner Operator subforum and read through the lengthy threads by doubleyellow and Blairandgretchen. Both are extremely informative.brian991219, tsavory and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Wow.
You went from having a 1 truck operation to having 'drivers', all in the same day.
You also started a business without first having the pieces in order. No idea of what to do.
And after a few months you come to a forum to ask questions.
I'm glad I'm not working for you. -
Hang on and let me get some advice on how to answer this...then I will advise you with what I have been advised on. I'm diggin your username.

You're making the assumption that by "drivers" means that I own several trucks. It doesn't take a genius to know that several drivers can use ONE truck. Should I have been more clear? Yes, but I'm pretty sure everyone else understands what I meant by that statement while you're the odd one out. -
I'll check this out if it still exists. Thanks so much for this!
