I have talked to a couple drivers this last week and "they're saying" they're starting to have trucks abandoned since they can't get back to the yard to turn it in. Crazy! I'm at holland and I'm doing pretty good still. No complaints really. I just don't like swapping loads really, but it helps another driver home.
Sounds like gpt was riding the gravy train that has now been derailed!
Great Plains Transport - A company that cares about drivers... NO BS.

I've had contact with a few drivers that left.. I don't know what's going on. Just the usual postings on the fb page and a new website, but that's about it. I had to pick up an empty trailer yesterday that had a flat tire and one trailer tail that wouldn't extend. Plus my truck has been over due for some service but no effort to get me back to the yard. Seems to be a lot of uncoordination lately. They had me deliver a load over the weekend, told it's just a drop & hook then check in Monday. Gave them an ETA for Sunday morning and got an ok.... I get there and it's completely locked up, gates chained & padlocked, no one there. I get in Monday morning and found out there was a code drivers could use to access, but dispatch never communicated that to me... I'm just hanging on and doing what I have to do for now...spring can't come fast enough. Been too long since I had a vacation and already had to cancel my vacation plans last year.

Just got dispatched this morning going all the way up to northwestern Ohio to pickup, after getting empty south of Indy, which was a 9 am appointment,at least a 200 miles deadhead.. A big portion which ran on ice covered Indiana roads.., had to tell them I wouldn't be up to the shipper until afternoon and wouldn't be able to make the morning appointment down to Texas,,,, got the reply of "we'll see what we can do" yeah, right. They still have this idea that we get unloaded instantly and an empty truck goes 100 mph.., never mind a big winter storm just went through, sent in the load confirmation about all that, but no reply. smh.

sorry to tell you but I highly doubt they're going to change their ways... They are who they are and apparently they don't a darn...highwayman Thanks this.

Nope.... Found out it doesn't matter to them if roads are screwed up or if we hit traffic.... we automatically go 65 mph. Of course they have all kinds of fun in that office. Drivers are no longer valued here.

And that's the truth. They won't change and this time next year they'll be outta business Time for people to get off the Titanicdrvrtech77 Thanks this.

it's quite obvious the owner of GPT should care about what's going on...and what's more alarming is that a trucking company owner for whatever reason doesn't care if his company goes under because frankly if I run a company and I have people in the office doing this kind of shenanigans they would all be looking for a job because I would not sit there and let that happen to my company... I really makes me wonder what the owner is thinking and it's getting more obvious by the day why they split from Holland more likely Holland throwing them to the curb... And they must have been able to stay afloat with Holland running their operations because it's obvious they're unable to do anything on their ownhighwayman Thanks this.

Indeed, and his office is right in there with the rest ...

I know... I can see planning at a higher speed like 55 in the warmer months....unless I'm going through a city known for traffic tie ups... But in the winter? I can guarantee that truck ain't gonna be going 65-70 on the ice.. That's how those pile ups in Indiana and Wyoming happened, people getting into a rush despite the conditions, and if the road gets shut down, forget it. It really frosted me last month when I 5 got closed north of Portland , OR , and the only other route US 30 also got closed because of mudslides!! And I get accused of "believing all the crap on the CB",,,, so i guess what the electronic highway signs and Washington State DOT says are make believe too?? And when I asked about the "bad roads policy" during their "holland" phase it was "you're the captain of the ship". Now it's the driver is wrong no matter what, The computer on the dispatcher's desk is always correct. This company was well on its way to earning my loyalty before the whole mess. Now driver loyalty means "let's just give him a bunch of feel-good bs while stabbing him in the back since drivers are stupid anyways". And then they want to accuse Holland of it?? I came very close to heaving that ##### Qualcomm out the window. Never mind the fact that I never saw one red cent of detention pay or layover for that empty weekend. Just "put it on your trip envelope" and getting hung up on when I ask the office. I gotta figure something out so I can still get my vacation in and get my sanity back. Enough ranting for today and time to get me some food! Lol.
highwayman Thanks this.
