Ok, I think you're confusing the authority thing.
You wouldn't need your own authority to 'contract' on to Prime, you would simply own your tractor, and 'contract' to them under their authority.
If you obtained your own authority, you would then obtain loads from whomever you wished, and collect the revenue directly.
Am I explaining this right, or making it worse?Big_D409 Thanks this. -
Personally, that's what I like - some find it a PITA, and prefer a dispatcher of some form.bomoto Thanks this.

I understand your philosophy but buying used is a gamble. I know my truck Is new and trouble free for 500k miles under warranty. I think it's preference over actual savings not all truckers get lucky on a low maintenance used truckRERM and lisamomof4boyz Thank this.

You can run anyway you want under prime. With or without your authority. Lease or own your truck and all variations of the above

Having my own authority thru prime would do 2 things. First allow me to 1099 my wife and save some tax or payroll workman's comp cost plus it would get me another step closers to full control. Yes it will come down to cost vs effort on the stay or change. So many owner operator make it sound like they are starving which makes you take it slow. I heard the same ######## that a lease can't make it and I blew that one out of the waterlisamomof4boyz Thanks this.
