Walmart handles these situations better than any company I know. This is why their safety record is so good. If the forecast for the Mt. Crawford, VA area comes true, trucks will not be allowed to leave. Others in the area would be told to shutdown and park in a safe place. No HOT freight here, so no need to take chances in bad weather. Get in touch with your DC Friday. You may not even go back to work Saturday due to the weather.
All my fellow private fleet drivers in the region where storm Jonas is brewing, please be safe. For those who do not know, you are paid for all wait time caused by weather, so no need to be on the roads if conditions are bad.noninetofive, Ron_G_Sr, gregsmith7467 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Just amazing, and refreshing, to hear a company with common sense. No more of the, "well, even if you're only doing 10mph, you're still rolling" or "you should be able to make it" all from dispatchers hundreds of miles away, driving a desk. Like many on here, I'm sure, I've always been the captain of my own ship, and an always more worried about the inexperienced drivers in the vehicles around me in harsh weather. And with this big storm hitting out east, yep, stay home, stay safe, let our snow plow brethren do their job, pray everyone comes through alright, and work together in the aftermath to help one another dig out.
P.S. please send some of that snow to us in Wisconsin, I'd like to get my snowmobile out, and do some playing. Until then, I'll send my prayers to the East coast, play it safe and cautious, tomorrow is another day.Lardfast, noninetofive and Ron_G_Sr Thank this. -
Any of you see the details on the Wire of the new vacation format being rolled out this summer ? We will now be accruing paid time off through the year versus getting it on your anniversary date.

When I work in the oil field that's how ours worked you got so many hours per pay check
-
That is how it has worked at other companies that I have worked for. I guess it depends on how it is implemented. In the end, it should work out exactly the same. But, like I have said, I have not seen or heard any info on it yet.
I guess I will hear about it from Rick. He had his meeting today, but haven't talked to him since.Woodenleg Thanks this. -
Good evening everyone! I made it through my first week on the road. The OBC is something to learn but I'm getting use to it. I have an excellent mentor/trainer too.
The word is starting to get around about the new changes possibly coming this year with our par & vacation structure. I guess we'll have to wait and see...
Anyone that has to be out this weekend anywhere on the east coast, PLEASE be safe.drozzer69 Thanks this. -
Change in pay structure? Hopefully for the better?
