I've had a couple of companies do that, where they had me give drivers a lift home, I doubt if that goes on much now with all the liability crap going on.
Great Plains Transport - A company that cares about drivers... NO BS.

I don't think some of the drivers are worried about DAC.
-
I guess not....one guy I know quit a company I used to be with because of his medical dq and was unable to drive it back to the terminal and that company (no longer around) screwed him over hard.

Not to mention GPT might have some marks on them as well I'd any drivers start sharing the things they do with the appropriate party. .. Like telling drivers they have to drive no matter what until they say it's not safe to drive ... Or going into the Qualcomm system and changing hours to make it look like a driver completed his 10 hour break and telling the driver he has to roll, even though he's only slept less than 3 hours in the last 24 etc. ... They will hang themselves sooner or later. And anyone clinging onto them will go down with them. .. So I truly doubt drivers are worried about what GPT can put on their DAC. . They can prob fight it ... That place is horrible when it comes to caring about their drivers ... They have placed the noose around their necks and are standing on the ledge now. It's just a matter of time. ... As I've stated before. Good luck to those who are giving it their best effort

That's one thing that this industry as a whole will have to stop doing is telling drivers to go or else with that new law DOT is putting out... Up to $16,000 fine to any companies, brokers, shippers, or receivers that force drivers to violate hours regs or drive in bad conditions (like roads that have been closed due to conditions). If the company is telling driver go or else it's a complete reverse to what I was told last spring(you're the captain of the ship). I guess it'll be interesting to see what happens between now and spring. Especially on the yearly bonus.... If I get screwed on that I'll be very PO'd. I've already gotten stiffed on detention and layover pay since that family dispute garbage started.
highwayman and carramrod32 Thank this. -
Hey Anonymousproxy, I've been following you on here since you started at GPT. I do admire the fact you are trying to stick it out til spring or what not, probably more than most would have done. The fact that you have already been hosed on detention and layover it would not be at all surprising on the yearly bonus as well. Time will tell on this. Good luck to you on all this.

Yeah..if things do change for the better I guess I'll see what happens... I'm already committed to a lot of personal stuff for this spring. Hard to say what'll happen....

Things actually been good this week..... Finding myself lucky I wasn't able to do that puyallup load due to my 70.... Getting reports that Snoqualmie pass up in WA is closed indefinitely because of avalanche danger.... Wow. Delivering this one in my then up by the yard, then heading east, hopefully with a better trailer than the last couple peices of junk ive been pulling. I'm sure my truck is due for some needed maintenance, not really looking forward to going into the offices. My miles seem to be good so far this month but the last few weeks had me fed up to say the least.... Maybe there's some hope? Dunno yet. Too focused on a bunch of crap I gotta take care of between now and spring. And vacation planning too, especially flights, as I'm a bit undecided whether to keep using Delta or find a foreign airline that might have better service between the states and Manila. Japan airlines? Maybe Singapore or KAL? The thought of the crappy food on the Delta flights between US and Tokyo already has my stomach sour lol. Also there's the immigration crap I have to get through for my partner. A bunch of paperwork for the fiancé visa, etc.
Hoping I can survive the insanity until this spring, then see where things are once I come back to work. It'll be an interesting couple of months.carramrod32 and drvrtech77 Thank this. -
I've had good luck with Philippine Airlines. Our last trip was 2 for 1 business class. $4200 R/T for both of us. Was great service.

Nice... I might be postponing the vacation until summer....with all that's going on and my partner needing to get some family stuff taken care of on her end I could be as late as August.... Basically trying to decide where we want to go and see. Her hometown has its fiesta in early August and she participates in their pageants judges a few of them and occasionally she also competes herself. Plus I've been wanting to visit there during Christmas time... They really get into that holiday over there.
Basically meaning I'll be hanging here for a while, and seeing what happens. I stopped in there yesterday and did get some good news on my bonus situation, so maybe there's some hope for some things to get better. It's been a bit of a rough ride last few months with the changes. Fortunately my miles are picking up a bit more, if they can shift more to direct freight that'll be good too. I'm not really sure I want to give up the ship just yet but i intend to watch things VERY closely.
