Nope but just like any other JB Hunt intermodal job.
As a company driver, expect $500 to $700 after taxes.
As an owner operator, expect $1,600 to $1,900 a week after fuel/ect.Skipper2256 Thanks this. -
I do out of Harrisburg and I'm local not regional. As far as how it is it has it's good days and bad as far as stress goes but it's generally not nearly as stressful as other jobs I've had. As far as pay goes it's $28 for a drop & hook as well as TONU, $43 for a live load or unload, CPM starts at $.36 per mile and maxes out at $.46 per mile unless you work weekends then you get an extra $.03 per mile I believe so your start would then be $.39 and max would be $.49. Break Down, Rail Delay, Yard Work, and everything else that is hourly pay other than detention is $17 an hour. Detention pay starts at $17 an hour after being at the customer for an hour and a half for a live unload/load...now if it's a drop and hook detention starts after just one hour. If you go past one hour detention your detention pay goes up to $25.50 an hour. So if you collect 3 hours of detention at a customer the first hour would $17 but the other 2 hours would be $25.50.
If you work a sixth day sometimes they have added pay that I've seen up to $100 other times they have no extra incentive pay for working a sixth day. I never work a sixth day and I'm going to make over 60k this year. If I did work a sixth day I would be over 70k a year and that's with me not being maxed out on cpm either. Chassis and Equipment moves are $10. Reefer loads (rare to do I've been at Harrisburg almost 3.5 years now and haven't done a reefer load) is an extra $15 for the load and fueling for the reefer container is an additional $13. You don't get paid for scaling (you get reimbursed for it and yes that is one downside of the job but you really only need to scale a few California loads). You also don't get paid for fueling the truck either. As far as rail terminals you'll go to it's mostly Harrisburg Rail, Rutherford Rail, CSX in Chambersburg with ocassionally going to Norfolk Southern Greencastle, Norfolk Southern Bethlehem, and CSX Baltimore.Last edited: Mar 3, 2016
Skipper2256, jdiesel3406, RookieJ1987 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I've heard bad things about jbh with regard to not living up to their word. What's your take on this? Thanks.
-
My take on it is that a lot of drivers in the past were OTR for JB Hunt and had bad experiences in regards to OTR. OTR and Intermodal are two very different beasts and you will have very different experiences in regards to a driver being OTR or Intermodal for a company regardless if it's JB Hunt or another Company like Schneider. So far what I've been told by actual drivers and managers has been accurate. I don't regularly talk to recruiters so I don't know what they are saying. If a recruiter says you can make 150K a year being a company driver and never work more than 8 hours a day and have 3 weeks vacation your first day on the job then yeah they are feeding you BS. I need a more specific example/s of what you mean when you say heard they don't live up to there word,

From what I heard Harrisburg pays decent, other terminals like Los Angeles (south gate) pay garbage. It all varies
RookieJ1987 Thanks this. -
So what would a company driver and owner operator make for jb hunt intermodal in New Jersey? You know with the Newark/Elizabeth Port, and tons of intermodal possibilities for Jb hunt
