I'm reminded of someone I trained from that area, getting the individual comfortable with hills was a task. I had to have them drive during the night when the view wasn't so clear then point they did it later. this person believed in no hills of any kind when we started.
trained a few from Idaho that didnt know how to.. in the winter season. I asked one person how can you live idaho and not know how to drive during the winter? answer, someone else drove. each knew how when we were finished
seems to me many think very little of tire chains the furthur east yah go.Flipflops and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
A set of doubles and 2 sets of singles.
I have chained up many times, but only twice with a truck.
That was during training.
I'll chain if I need to get out of a situation that I didn't foresee.
But I won't chain up to go through something if I can stop before I have to.
Just like I won't face a high wind situation if I don't have to.
Nor black ice or severe thunderstorms.
I have seen too many trucks in the ditch in all those conditions.
Many of those drivers lost their life just trying to get a load of toilet paper somewhere on time.
No load is worth it.
No job is worth it.
No pay is worth it.drvrtech77, driverdriver, Flipflops and 4 others Thank this. -

odds are you won't hear anything about not having chains on your truck unless you actually need them and if that's the case you're about to get bent over

I've been checked once this year in early Sept. @MM 133. The only place in the state of Colorado that chains are required to be on your truck in good weather is I70 MM 133-259. I roll through there 4X a week.

I chained my first month driving because another new driver didn'the stop at the chain bank and I didn'the know you could tell a dispatcher no, then.

I wouldn't risk going without chains. The weigh station has Xray machines and will see there are no chains on board and send up drones to follow you.
RoosterNB, Flipflops, WildTiger1990 and 4 others Thank this. -
not having tire chains in plain sight, hung on a rack, could be a invitation for a inspection, good luck!
Lepton1 Thanks this.
