What would be the problem for a paperlogger to go down to Iowa 80 and have some Elog in Use decals made up and pasted to the side of the truck. I mean it is a freedom of speech issue right? Some guys have the chrome naked lady/naked man on their mudflaps. Other carriers have Award Winning Drivers decals on their trailers too.

That's all fine and good... But then to project that generically to a whole group... Well... ;-)

Well if I was still driving I wonder how the man would respond to a decal on my truck sayin No Log Book.

I used to see a truck that literally said, "how's my driving, call 1 800 EAT ####". I always wondered how that went over at scales.

The stickers are not required. I have no idea why drivers put them on or companies put them on either. AS for certification, the ELD device has to be in compliance and the compliance is a freakin joke. All the manufacturer has to do is submit a form and done, it is certified compliant. And yes it does have to be tied to the ECM. That is what am AOBRD is. Automatic On Board Recording Device. It is separate from the Electronic driver log. What it does is record from the moment you turn the key on until you turn it off. Once the truck starts moving logs start. Now there is some variance in how far you can drive before it puts you on the drive line. That is the reason they chose 2000 model year and newer trucks must have E-logs. It has to do with the computers that are in the trucks and how easy it is to install an AOBRD.

That is incorrect about the pre-pass as far as how often you get pulled in to a scale. I have had trips where I go from Florida to Ohio and never get a red light to stop. There are other trips, I get pulled into every scale. I have no idea if it is random, or if it is based off how many idiots my company has working for them that get violations, but the fact remains that it seems to be random to me. Except Kentucky, I never get a bypass.
