The winds aren't too bad along I-40 today. 18 or so.
I'll be going through Amarillo tomorrow on my way to SoCal.

I've shut down several times for wind. My company never questions it, just reschedules the delivery.
Nothing is worth a roll over.

I use the MyRadar app with the wind layer switched on. Very good way to get a quick overview of weather and wind conditions.

Best way to avoid sore and stiff muscles from fighting the wind, loosen up your grip and let your arms hang heavy. You'll be able to react quicker to changes in wind or road surface and be much less tired at the end of the day.

I spent last night at the J in La Salle, Illinois, the wind shook my truck so much this morning that it woke me up. Headed westbound on I-80, I was getting blown around like a plastic bag, even with 28k in the wagon... Had to slow down to 35 mph while crossing the Mississippi into Iowa. Even though it was in the 60s today, I wasn't trying to go for a swim... Lol

The worst wind I've ever experienced was about 5 yrs ago on I-24 in KY headed east just before the TN line. There were tornados touching down all over and I saw 6 trucks turned over within about a 5 mile stretch. I shut it down at that big Pilot in Oak Grove rather than risk it on that last three hours to the house. Wind can be way more terrifying than ice or snow.

    bamajim and RMU91 Thank this.
