Here's the deal, I came down on everyone involved, the forum rules applied to ALL that were involved. But when someone throws a fit like a child and gets belligerent thru pm's, myself or any other mod is NOT going to deal with that and will permanently ban.
Now that is out in the open, and behind us I trust that we can move beyond it and return to the topic that this thread is about. -
I guess you haven't been to Arizona much. If you go be be prepared to go to a load, living where you do. I would get familiar with the 37 state fleet. My last trip west was Jan 2012. The week After Christmas, 2 drop load Hayward,ca, Travis afb, paid the truck 9100, loaded 2.40 a mile to Houston. Figured it could not get any better so I retired from the west coast.jacquesi23 Thanks this.

I moved on a long time ago, it only got brought up because someone asked about him.

However, with experience you will lam the lanes and system enough a guy can make an educated guess s to how many trucks will be ahead of them in an area. For example, in December and January you can pretty much guarantee that if you are going south of I20 there is going to be fifty trucks ahead of you, but north of I70 there will only be 15 ahead of you. And even with the experience it's not fool proof, we all roll snake eyes on occasion and crap out.
Also, you can always ask your coordinator and they can tell you how many trucks are in an area before you commit to a load.
It looks like loads are picking back up. At least a little bit. I was able to get all of next week on me while loading this morning. My final load delivers Friday morning. And because I'm booked a solid week in advance, i should have no problem getting the next load dispatched by Monday afternoon.Highway Sailor, jacquesi23 and vangtransport Thank this. -
I try not to bother my coordinator to much because he has so many trucks, I'm on the 30 board and we are supposed to do everything. It's a bit of a disadvantage because I'd rather watch the road than the board, but that's why I have been showing my wife the ins and outs of the contractor web. She ran my truck for many years and knows what I will and won't do.
You are right, it seems the freight volume is picking up a bit, a couple real slow days here and there but getting better.jacquesi23 Thanks this. -
that about sums it up!
i guess that's the real question
one thing I wish they would eventually incorporate into the load system is being able to see loads at the destination with the click of a button sorta like how some of the outside load boards are setup. I'm sure some of you former independent guys are familiar with it. But just to be able to click on a load then instantly see what's at the destination without having to clear the search screen change the date put new origin in an etc etc etc.
by the time you click back on the load you originally wanted it's gone! An I mentally envision the old fisherman guy telling me "oh you almost had it!, you gotta be quicker than that!" -
@ jauquesi23
It's a mental adjustment coming from doing your own thing and working Mercer's board, I still struggle with it. When I did my own thing I never sat more than what I wanted to, and I didn't take stuff I didn't want for the most part. I get the struggle, I was use to seeing a load calling and getting it, not seeing a load putting my name on it and then hope I get it. I just want you to know, you're not crazy.lolwhoopNride and jacquesi23 Thank this. -
That was a hell of a run!!!
My last money run to Cali paid me $7500 to the truck out of Georgia. That was 3 years ago. Haven't seen that type of money to west since then -
I think that's more of the answer I was looking for lol. That I wasn't "going crazy"
It's a different learning curve.
Sorta like when you went to truck driving school an it was easier for you to learn to drive a rig if you weren't familiar with a manual transmission.
It was the opposite for me.. I knew how to drive a manual transmission so I couldn't understand the concept of double clutch an the fact that the truck would take off simply by releasing the clutch.CJndaTruck Thanks this.
