Just got my official orientation date and I am definitely feeling a mixed bag of emotions. Mostly excited and anxious but a little nervous as well. I realize this is going to be a big culture shock but I know Maverick is a great company and I'm ready to start this next chapter. The DOT physical has me a little nervous only because my blood pressure usually teeters the 140/90 maximum but I'm confident I will be fine. I know this forum has tons of useful posts regarding the orientation process but I just thought I would post anyway in case any fellow Maverick drivers wanted to chime in with any further insight or pointers for a newbie. I have a few questions and thanks in advance to anyone willing to answer. Does the glass division provide pretty consistent miles year round? Are your glass loads delivering mostly in the Mid-West/East Coast? I'm based out of Southern NJ and will be going OTR. Is this a good freight area for glass?

My husband hauls glass but it is not for Maverick but he works with the drivers. All the ones he talks to enjoys it and if they are like the company that he has an account with he always has a load. His company is dedicated but very consistent in the south between MD and GA. Idk about the other regions but all drivers that he talks to out there that hauls glass for maverick love it and he says they pay well.

I heard they are one the better companies out there of course in here there are gonna be a few that may have a bad experience and say they are the worst company ever with the worst management...... Blah blah blah... But I've spoken to a few truckers and they say Maverick guys are very polite take pride in safety and make good money as drivers so kudos for joining the company

Glass freight isnt consistent in the winter time. But lucky glass guys still can haul regular flatbed loads like lumber, coil, etc etc to keep getting miles. Pays the same as glass.

Yes mostly Midwest/east coast down to Texas and east of texas. There is also loads going west sometimes. Also we do Canada runs. I'm currently in Canada waiting for a dock to be open. U going to need your passport.

South NJ is okay. You will probably load up in carisle, pa or lauringburg, NC on your first run out the house. Maybe genva,NY

I see maverick trucks hauling glass on an almost daily basis on I90 in Mn even through the winter time. Not sure where they are going or coming from. Always seem to have loads around here.

ThE glass plant in laurinburg NC is where my husband hauls from and they were slow around the holidays but it's picking back up. Maverick is a hard company to get on with but maybe that's why so many of there drivers are satisfied there

Thanks... Really appreciate the response. How smooth do your Canada runs usually go? I've heard some horror stories. Also, do you think close to 60k per year is a reasonable goal? I'm currently single with no children so being home every other weekend is not as high a priority as the checks going in the bank account.
