The OP states that their brother has two years driving. He should know by now how to properly scale out a heavy load before leaving the area.

He has stated it is in Champaign, and he stated the ticket is in Dry Grove, which is where the Carlock scale is. I74 and I57 junction is 179 mm, and the scale is 125 mm, so at least 50 miles, and past a Love's and an independent. In Leroy, and ta and pilot in Bloomington.

Only reason I did was that I haven't used a CAT Scale in probably 2 yrs.

Ok, Like others have said.. He passed up 4 different Cat scales.. Cries because he has to pay a fine... Yep Il. does make you pay right there and most of the times get the ld. legal.. I've been popped a few times in Il... One ticket cost me 2500.00 Yep I had to pay because I was in a hurry and didn't weigh out the ld..
So you will not hear from me that the company did him wrong..
His fault plain and simple.. I'm not going to hold his hand and give him a big hug and say, yea they did you wrong..
He messed up plain and simple.. Life, move on and learn from your mistakes... Heck the Love's he went right past on I74 you can see the Cat scale sign. The Pilot right up on I 57 in Champain is a easy on and off place

The Kraft plant in Champaign has a single axle scale to the right of the exit road on your way to the gate. You get your axle weight's fixed then go to the gate. They have a full platform scale at the gate to make sure you are not over gross only. Purely the drivers fault and a costly error. Then the fact that there is a Cat scale before he got to the state scale is just inexcusable.
    Sorry, but that's life.

I got pulled into an IL scale for being about 1200 over on drives. I was pulling a hopper and he asked if my load could have slid back from front to center causing weight to shift from my steers to my drives. I admitted I have trouble with that at times. He told me to go back outside drive forward and hit my brakes hard one time. I obliged and when I came back in, no re-weigh mind you, he said...you're good. A quick level 3 and I was outta there....got lucky I guess.

I did ask about the pay on the spot thing as I had no idea. There was another driver there waiting on a comcheck so out of curiosity I asked and the trooper told me they'd never get half the tickets paid if they didn't do it this way. Being somewhat surprised I asked, really with the chances of a suspended license and all. He said he guaranteed before the end of his shift they'd catch at least one with a susp license for non pay of ticket and they had already put one oos that morning. Wow!......is all I could think...guess I'm naive.

It sounds like a story his brother gave him to barrow money.... Like the other guy said no point of entery.. My advice is talk with your brother find out where his paycheck really went.. My guess cash advances for a big cb & 5 buffets..

You know, I'd cut the brother some slack. I think it was only 4 buffets!
