So how much paperwork do fill out per load, and what is the average amount of time it takes you to fill it all out and send it in?

    EXAMPLE:

    Freight Bill/Invoice
    Heel Report (tanker)
    Weight Ticket
    Tractor Insp
    Trailer Insp
    1 Copy of BOL
    Fuel Receipts
    Mileage/Trip Report

The above sent for each load, usually 10 pages, I scan and email, 20-25 mins per load.

IFTA Fuel Log sent once per week.

Not complaining, just curious if this is what everyone else does....

    I'm a company driver with #%&(.

I fill out a scan sheet and write the same info on the BOL.
About a minute. Add another minute if I include the scale ticket.
Then I go in and scan it, about 5 minutes of on duty time.

takes me about 15 minutes per invoice....I take my sweet time making them so the broker or customer(Moreso the broker) doesn't have a hard time "understanding" it....

I also get happy when I open the P.O and find a months worth of Checks

Everything else (IFTA-Inspection reports-Mileage reports) Gets done when im Bored- I used to be on top of it all Till I realized I was missing out on too much family Time..Which of course Comes First..

    Scan bills - 10 minutes.
FT reporting done by company - $4/month.

My own pedantic records - 5 minutes.

Trip planning, another story. Sometimes 30 minutes plus a load.

Takes me 1 minute to write commodity, shipper. pickup, dropoff, date, state, city, receipt number, gallons, and dollars. Stick the papers in the envelope. Envelope gets dropped off at the office when i'm back in town. Along with logs.

If i go cross country, i fire up the printer, scan and email to office.

The heck with taking time to stop at a truckstop, trying to park somewhere. standing in line and paying big money to fax.

Scale tickets are paid with points if one is needed.

I'M O/O leased to another companies authority.

    My paperwork is minimal.

I am emailed my confirmation and dispatch info.

I arrive at pick up. Get loaded,.. I usually get a BOL from the shipper. Its not uncommon to have to write my own BOL. I do step deck and often pick up equipment from job sites where you have a go-fer guy who brings the machine to me. I then load it on my deck. He has no idea who or where,.. only that he was told I would be picking up the machine.

I deliver the machine,.. get them to sign my BOL. I then use the CamScanner App to take a pic of the signed BOL and email it to my dispatch in PDF. At the end of the week I am emailed a settlement sheet and the money is direct deposited into my account. Every 2 weeks I stuff a Fed-Ex envelope with all the hard copies of my BOLs. I write down my carriers Fed-Ex account number,.. address it and shuv in the box.

    Thats pretty much it.

    Do paper logs count?

I have electronic copies of every load I have ever done via the confirmation sheets.

I use my logs as verification for perdiem come tax time.

My I use RTS/Fleet One for my fuel card. I dont even go inside for the receipt. Its all electronic. Everything is done online.

As far as per load,.. paperwork is pretty minimal. All they want is a signed BOL.
