That's why the lease scam never dies. ONE guy knows how to run a business and gets into a groove. A THOUSAND loose their a••.

Hilarious that people give up health insurance, 401k's, paid holidays, and paid vacation....so they can have the luxury of buying fuel. I know some clean house paying the bills for a carrier but more than likey you will not be the one.

Wave000, Pintlehook and HalpinUout Thank this.

That's great and I've had months like that too but it's not consistent.

I have very good Private health insurance, a self-funded 401k, and make a comfortable living but you're right people get into these leases with little or no experience they see the big settlement start buying stuff, then when things get slow they're screwed

That's why when you have a good month, you save save save, that way when you have a slow month it doesn't hurt so bad, February was good, March is shaping up very nice. Time management, and fuel management are the keys to success around here.

I talked to a lease driver yesterday
    He seemed happy...
The only thing he did mention is the fact that he can't take a day off work or he would fall behind
... This gig is certainly not for new drivers or anyone that wants to take a few days off work
.... It's definitely not my cup of tea

Correct if you take a late day off can you do fall behind, you have to keep in your mind that you're fixed expenses are $112 today, but if you think about it as a company driver you lose Revenue when you take time off also.

and most live in their trucks. What a dismal pathetic existance. Even when I was "OTR" I only worked 5 or 6 days. I don't think I ever once did a 34 on the road. Now I work 4 and half days a week. Would never more than 5 days a week ever again. Life's to short.

I have never been able to work off a recap and it has nothing to do with time management.
I've also lost so much time waiting for an empty trailer or if I refuse a load I get put to the bottom of the list and then sit.
I was going to sign on for dedicated but when they explained they're not that flexible for home time I decided OTR.
I always keep that left door shut get fuel where it's the cheapest and use cruise control to help with fuel economy.
99% of this has to do with load planning ( which I have no control over) depending on what zone you're in is what load planner you'll get.
Many times I have picked up a load heading down the road then the delivery time changes to a day later.
Night dispatch will rarely ever dispatch me and the weekend crew (unless my FM has to work) does absolutely nothing for me.
A decent FM helps but the one I have didn't do anything for me until I told him the truck is getting turned in.
After my 30-day notice all of a sudden now I'm getting light loads and making money that an owner operator should make.
Too bad it had to come to that.
The price of fuel has risen but the fuel surcharge has not.
To sum it all up yes you can make money with Dart as long as you put your foot down with the FM keep the left door closed and don't take any time off.
If I ever have to fall back on my CDL it won't be as a lease purchase operator.

    ...yes I agree
    That's why I'm never sick
    M thru F...
But the weekends usually belong to me and my family
Sometimes I'll sacrifice my weekend, if the boss is in a jam

I will agree otr sucks, did it for years before,Dedicated operates different, every fleet manager is assigned their own planner for their fleet, never waited on an mt because usually we bring a load in and take a l9aded out,as far as honetime I go home when I want to and stay as long as can afford to,usually 14 days out and 3 home, but living in middle tennessee I get loads throught the house,I also never have to deal with night dispatch because I am Pre-planned ahead 2-3 loads,my planner has been working with me off and on since 1996,so he knows how i rin and what i do,I understand leasing does not work for everyone, and Dart doesnt work for everyone, just offering my experiences.Kinda of like when you buy something online you look at the reviews, some are 4 stars some are 1
