I would like to know your thoughts on the dd13 and the dd15. If you don't have any experience with these engines please don't speculate. I would like to know if they are reliable comma and if they are affordable to operate. I would also like to know about the DEF systems.

They seem reliable and all the dd13 and 15 I been in, only one had a Def sensor fail twice.

What you wanna know about def? It's a colorless fluid that mix in your exhaust, making the world a better place, according of California lawmakers. It's non flammable, and it's subject to freezing, but def tank has a heater to warm it up during winter which is next to your fuel tank. So in a case of a collision that has fuel leak, you might catch on fire but don't wrry

I ran a 2013 Cascadia with a DD15 for 3 years, the turbo went out at 80,000 and the ECM went shortly after. After that it was perfect for the next 300,000 miles. She had 3 weeks of down time in 3 years, that's pretty good in my book and all the work done was under warranty. We had daycabs with the DD13s and they held up ok till about 300,000 and then the emissions issues started popping up. Ive read that it's bad to idle these engines, it'll build up soot in the dpf and cause issues. Detroits owners manuals say not to idle unless you set it to 900rpms.

You have a specific year or range in mind? 2012s have a bad habit of losing cylinders 3 or 5 very early on. Like 600k-700k miles. '13 and up seems to be fixed.

I'm thinking about purchasing one of Maverick Transportation's trucks.

Drove dd15 for a food service company with a fleet of about 120. Never had 1 leave me stranded. We also had a lot of idle time and really no dpf, def issues. If I was buying new my ride would have a dd15 or 16

Know this is older but I'm bored. We have several freights in our local fleet. Most have the ISX but we have two 2013 models with the dd15. I'm currently un a Mack but if I were going to swap it would be to o,e of the detroit trucks. Both have over 300,000 with no major issues. From what I've been told they have to be driven differently. Like the engines run best and produce most torque at lower rpms. Almost like they have to be lugged to get best performance n fuel economy. I've been considering getting my own truck and when I do it will either be one with an older cat or a detroit. Not a big fan of the newer emissions engines but I think detroit is doing well with it.

Drove a mack daycab with the 445c with a 100k frac pump and it was out gunning the isx 485/1650 which blew my mind. 70 mph at 1400 rpm 10 over 22.5 no idea rear end specs. Handle like crap tho. Not the same quality as the one in my avatar. Isx 12 425/1650 impressed me more the the 15. I'll still take an E-7 454 any day

The last 10 years I drove a 98 E7 460 day cab with AC460. The truck was a beast and with no governor it would hold 80-85 with legal load. But when ya have 4 diff drivers in a week trucks get roughed up. The mack im in now is 2012 mp8 445hp, 13 spd, I chose it over the freights with isx or dd15. I like the feel of mack, its reliable, and strong. But it does ride like that car Fred Flintstone drive. The Cascadias are roomier and have shelves n closets in sleeper. Now I wish i had took the Freight with dd15 but someone else already did.

Yeah I was surprised how that 13L outgunned the 485isx with the same load but yea road like a box of rocks and front end seemed too light. The mp8 has some snap when you step on it, cummins especially doesn't and DD isn't much better. The Mack Version of the d13 has some snap to it and. I was very impressed by it. Everything else on the truck, no
