There are signs basically everywhere in America saying "Slower Traffic Keep Right." Just today I dealt with three different drivers on four-lane interstates who drove in the second-from-the-right lane. By "dealt with, I mean "passed in the right lane because they weren't doing the speed limit." Each of them were passed on both sides.
One of these three was a Swift truck with either a team or a guy being trained, and likely it's the second thing.
To make things better, this all took place in Georgia where it is actually the law that you must move over to the right for faster traffic. -_-
Middle Lane

Yup, and when you don't want to break the law by jumping to the far left, you decide to pass on the right and that's when another truck or 4wheeler is getting on the on ramp.

Can't argue with that when you said ladies are awesum. You are 100% correct, lol.

The right (1st) lane is the merge lane. 2nd is the travel lane, 3rd is the passing lane. (sometimes not legal for trucks)
If I am doing 5 over in the second lane and you want to do 10 or 15 over (even in construction zones!) then you can break one more law and pass illegally in the third lane, at your dream job, in which you choose to run that fast, risk your license or worse, to make the money.

If I'm running under the speed limit, I'll stay in the right. If I'm at or above the speed limit, I'll run the middle.

It wouldn't be so bad, if they actually looked in the mirrors once in a while. Then they could let you go by and then get back in the middle lane, but they seem to think that if they don't look in the mirror, than technically you're not really there.

If folks are trying to pass you on the right, you're in the wrong lane. If traffic is stacked up behind you because you don't have the pedal to pass a vehicle to your right, again, you are in the wrong lane. You can drive as slow as you want to in the right lane. The left (or middle in cases where there are 3 or more lanes...especially if trucks are restricted to the "right 2") lane is for passing. If you can't or won't pass, get the hell out of the passing lane.

This is a big pet peeve of mine but too many people don't know the rules of the road and don't really care.
Their safety department tells them to run the middle lane so they do what they're told.
I'm out numbered by all the stupid people on the road.jfred2, Blackshack46, Mudguppy and 1 other person Thank this. -
I run the right lane as much as possible, regardless of speed. If the speed limit is 55 and I have the cruise on my 63 mph truck set to 60, I still drive the right lane unless I have to pass.
Unfortunately, my slow truck still has to pass the occasional 55 mph truck (in a 60 mph+ zone) on the right!!!
Since the vast majority of other trucks are faster than me (max cruise 60), I try to be courteous and stay out of the way.
Yes, this means I have to watch more closely for merging traffic. And yes, sometimes I can't get over safely so I have to slow down or go to governed speed to let another truck in. But that's my job... to pay attention.Last edited: Mar 11, 2016
