Drive trucks in the Navy SeaBees.
My son got his CDL in the SeaBees as an EO - Equipment Operator
Screw BUDS, saw them in Coronado,CA running on the beach carrying wooden poles that looked like pieces of telephone poles. That's way too gungho for this old guy. Give me a drunken night on the town in Olongapo, Philippines any day over that. At least can make it back to the ship hung over and freshly stewed/screwed/tattooed and not worry about running on the beach carrying a wooden pole on my shoulders.
What's your life like as an OTR trucker?

What is SeaBees anyway? Can't find a clear description on google.

Construction. They don't ride ships except to hitch rides to foreign destinations. They do anything civilian construction companies do; build runways, buildings, water treatment plants, schools, and sometimes do all that while getting shot at.
Here's an expample: USS Marvin Shields (FF-1066) was a Knox-class frigate of the US Navy. The ship was named after the only Seabee to receive the Medal of Honor. CM3 Marvin Glenn Shields was awarded the Medal of Honor during the Vietnam War.Lucidd Thanks this. -
Holy heck that sounds cool. What do Equipment operators do? It'd be nice to be able to build things but still get my CDL so i can go trucking when i get out. I want to join the military so i can make sure i'm mentally strong before jumping straight into trucking lol.

I'm not trying to be rude (much), but that is a dumb idea.
Join the Navy to learn how to drive a truck?
If you are going to serve, then let them REALLY serve you as well by giving you a great education in a more advanced field.
From the sound of it you would do very well on the ASVAB and you should take full advantage of it, and your brains.
Driving a truck is nothing compared to what you might do in the Navy. They are the pinnacle of high tech.
I'm curious - and please don't take this the wrong way - do you have ADD or some such thing?
The reason I ask is that my nephew was just diagnosed with it. He is in his mid 20's and never realized.
He joined the Marines after high school, but an injury in training ended his time there.
Ever since he has been just doing small stuff.. working at IKEA, playing video games and stuff.
He has the G.I. Bill to get a good education, but he hasn't used it because he couldn't decide what to do and had no motivation.
He had problems concentrating in school, which does not sound like your problem. But your wishy washy attitude in certain areas certainly does because your mind just seems all over the place.
He got on meds for it in the past month, and it has changed his whole outlook on life.
He is now enrolled in school for diesel mechanic, which has been an interest of his from working on his own truck.
But now he really has focus, where he had none before.Longarm Thanks this. -

hmm, more like lazy, I'll get good grades and focus on school when i need to, but it eventually gets exhausting. I don't want to keep straight A's through out high school, then go to college and do the exact same thing. But i don't know. I'm at a time in my life where I'm exploring every career. Is that such a bad thing? I don't think so. If my mind is all over the place, that's okay, I'm still young. At least I'll know exactly what i want to do when I'm 18, unlike most teens who make impulse decisions in college to do a career they really just don't want to do. That's how lots of nurses become nurses. They end up in college, no idea what they want to do, and choose nursing as an impulse decision which is why so many nurses hate their jobs. Better to have my mind all over the place, exploring different careers than picking one i have no knowledge about and eventually hate it.

Could be a nursing truck driver. Twofer.scottied67 Thanks this.

You could go to Motor Transport School in the Marines. Learn how to get your hummer stuck and unstuck.
Drive hummers off ships in to the surf up to your nose and make amphibious landings.americanmadetrucker Thanks this. -
I think that is the best explanation and answer I have heard in a very long time - from you or anyone else.
