I hauled a 20' flat rack out of Savannah today. When I was leaving the delivery? The front and back fell scaring the crap out of me. Why didn't they fall when loaded, the 2x4 spacers?
Flat rack question?

Someone unlocked it, the uprights should have been locked in place.

Yeah I figured something more than a 2x4 should be holding them up. First stop light BOOM. I'm just glad I have can locks on my step and didn't have to strap it down.

silly question, what's a flat rack???
-
Google 20' flat rack. It's a container without walls or a roof.
RERM Thanks this. -
So like a flatbed but with the chassis support
-
It's basically a flatbed container but it has foldable front and back walls for the crane to latch on to when loaded. This particular load was wide and tall, so a secondary attachment needed to be hooked to the crane first. It's the yellow thing in the background.
RERM Thanks this. -
The ends fold so they can ship several back in the space of one

Funny, not too long ago(I think last month or end of Jan) I was at JIT in savannah and witnessed this very same thing .... scared the crap out of me as I was tarping about 30 ft away....

This happened just outside of Universal studios. I thought some tourist just smacked my trailer.
