Oklahoma Speeding Ticket

Meant going 60 mph on a 65. And getting a ticket for that. You know, since some trucks are limited to 60mph

 

Cowboy I go through there every other week never had a problem, then again I see the speed sign I drive what the sign says simple

 

Ok, now is 2016 and yesterday I got 190$ ticket in Watts, OK for speeding 59mph in 40mph zone and cop say pay ticket before court and nothing goes to your record. Does it worth to look for lawyer? Or just pay ticket, I mean 19 over

 

From OP response: "Well, I called a lawyer in the state of Oklahoma and found out that if you are a regular driver, then what the cop said was true but it does not hold true for CDL holders! So we will be hiring a lawyer to fight the ticket."

The no points for CDL holders still holds true in Oklahoma depending on jurisdiction. Most companies require you to report any citations within x number of hours or days.

If you were cited by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol ... its going on your license. Pretty much anybody else, especially a small town cop or some sheriff's, no points will be assessed and the only record of it will be in that jurisdictions files.

I worked for a oilfield company in Oklahoma. One of the big things brought up at every safety meeting was that we had to report any tickets asap. Why? Because corporate could not monitor the number of tickets people were getting to appropriately discipline unsafe drivers. And the "liability risk" they imposed on the company, because a lawyer could research each jurisdiction to prove a pattern of unsafe driving.

Your CDL is how you feed yourself and your family. I would contact an Attorney TODAY dont mess around , consult an attorney today... The cost printed on the ticket means absolutely nothing, you are now in Protection mode now. I have had good success with hiring local Attorneys in the area i got the ticket. I once asked the officer where i could drop my trailer and then bobtailed into his little town and hired one of those Attorneys that has an office across from the court house. Maybe google Watts Ok and see if they have a local Attorney. BTW I only report to my company what im convicted of ..

 

Approaching Watts you are in a 60 mph zone, then it drops to 50 mph for about half a mile before getting to the 40 mph zone. Other than clues like lots of driveways, homes, and businesses, how did you miss the posted speed limit and think 59 mph was a safe speed in town?
