Because there are so many truckers ready and willing to work for next to nothing. If the trucker were to let those low paying jobs sit on the docks. The rates would go up.

Well, if popcorn weren't so darned expensive, drivers could leave the cheap freight on the docks - and munch tasty buttered popcorn with just a little salt - all day long till the shippers and brokers got the message.

So - I say we boycott the popcorn factories. Oh, and RIOT !!!!!!!

    Who's with me.

Well - seriously now. I get it.

When you get the call, like one on Friday, I politely explained to him what it costs to run my truck, tarp, repair said tarp, wait over the weekend, and load his freight going to Houston.

When he did the "huh - well . . . That sounds like a bit too much "

. . . I got real firm and straight with his stupid office dwelling rear end, and politely congratulated him on his inevitable discovery of the right man for the job.

End of conversation, marked in phone as cheap fool agent, move on.

If you want to make money trucking? You need to do the jobs that most people do not want to do. Fuel. Acid, molten sulphur. Drive the roads most people do not want to drive. Run the Rockies year round. Go when the other driver says it is to icy, to snowy. Do it safely! With no screw ups.

Ah but what do I know? I have only been driving for 15 months. Maybe you need to talk to some of the guys that have been working for next to nothing for the last ten years.

Oh and this is just MHO. LOL

I am not a kid I have worked in heavy industry for over 20 years. Just new to driving truck.

I dont run the rockies in the snow,.. or any other steep grades if the roads are slick. I dont haul what I dont want to haul. I dont go where I dont want to go. I dont take any risks that I am unsure of.

I have my moments where I end up sitting. According to others my business model is terrible. I should be poor and starving. To the contrary,.. I am doing just fine. Profitable and thriving.
