I use ratchet binders exclusively and I don't have any trouble tightening them or keeping them tight. Some loads might shift or settle a little but that would make any binder loosen.

There is a place for both of them. On the scrap that I hauled last year the ratchets just would not work so snap binders it is. We use snap binders on the concrete pipe because it is too easy to break the edges of the pipe. Even with edge protection. Straps are good until you get them wet, then it seems you can never get them tight enough. I use ratchet binders on all equipment but do use snaps on the attachments.

Most oilfield outfits on the gulf coast will not allow snap binders.
The company I am leased to will not pass your truck on the company inspection ( every 6 months) with them on the truck. -

I typically use my ratchets once, then throw them out and buy new. I'm making so much off these rates lately - I can't see any other logical way to deal with the problem.
Oxbow, spyder7723, Mudguppy and 3 others Thank this. -
The hell with cleaning and oiling them!
blairandgretchen and johndeere4020 Thank this. -
With all that being said, I am going to try a couple of these. If they work then that is all I will carry. Now I just need to see if they hold up.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
curious as to if you guys have ever used your binders UNDER the rub rail to the frame.
i hauled one of them 26 ft. Long, 8.6 wide box vans. Securement rings under the frame of the box. I had 8 inch RR ties so plenty of room for snaps. No way it could have been done with 4 X 4's. -
