So I see a lays driver with a step deck back into a dock. I always wondered how they get loaded/unloaded. He had jacks right between the tandems to lift the trailer to dock height. Just curious if any flatbeds have that?
Step deck lift for docks?

Idk about the rest of them but I have docks with a ramp near the back so my step deck is level with the dock. I don't usually get loaded back ended with a forklift. Either on the side or crane from the top

I have backed up ramps before that we put down behind the rear axle right in front of the dock. That was to get rear loaded by a forklift when pulling a step deck.

I have a Trail King tilt trailer (like a Landoll) that has the cylinders between the tandems. Works great.
This gives me the option of unloading on the ground or a dock.Dominick253 Thanks this. -

Mine lifts the air bags to full height in order for the tires to clear the wheel wells when sliding the rear axle.
I've flipped the switch a few times in order to reach dock height because the place had no way to unload me outside. Never mind that all the pallets were facing the side of the trailer.
I blame the broke for that one. Should not have said flatbed or step trailer.

Hurst - I do the same but my truck must stay running to keep the air up. With the forklift runnng on and off the truck, it will deplete the air in the bags. we load regularly at a dock that is flatbed height, but with the wood "ramps" that are there and inflating as you mentioned, my trailer comes to within a few inches of the dock height. Pallets are turned wrong, but it is the customer's problem to unload it, and they are all fine with it.Dominick253 Thanks this.

Mine I just need to keep the air to the trailer on,.. that means setting the tractor brake only. Chalk the trailer wheels,.. even with forklift rolling on the trailer,.. truck stayed in place. On mine when I flip the valve,.. it locks the brakes on the rear axle automatically.
Mine stays fully aired up the whole time, even with the truck shut off.
Also,.. mine does like yours,.. it comes to within inches of the full dock height. In order to get a couple more inches,. I bag the suspension on my tractor. When the axles on the trailer are spread,.. the front axle gives a little more height when the tractor is lowered.

There's a CAT dealer in ID (I think) that has drive on docks. They line up the back of the trailer on a plate in the group, then it drops down & they drive off the equipment. I wish I took pictures of that, it was pretty #### cool.
