An update regarding Trent, the OP.

He still hasn't returned the trailer, plates, original paperwork, etc. And if you have read his major complaint was that we didn't direct deposit. We offered him a fleet one check, that would have paid him out on time, that he refused.

This is exactly the reason, that we have learned the hard way that is in part why we have gotten into financial troubles, that when someone is leaving, or has stopped running, that we take actions to protect ourselves and our partners.

When someone leaves, and does it the correct way, we have always paid out per our contract. (edit) Correct way or not, we have paid out per our contract.

If anyone feels that we have cheated them. First, EVERYONE that has leased to us has my cell number. I have never dodge a single call, even during the darkest times. Call me.

AMEN!!! O/O's and drivers should not fund CARRIER's business, just like CARRIER's should NOT do the same for O/O's, drivers, etc., EVERYONE involved should budget their funds!!! Carriers should pay ON TIME so that the O/O's can budget...WEEKLY settlements (if that was agreed at the beginning) and if in 1-2 weeks either side shows irresponsibility with funds...CUT the relationship. That's MY opinion...

Ok let's be honest you're not pulling 3.00 a mile consistently for all miles so let's not get sidetracked here with nonsense.
We sign contracts for a reason. To keep people honest. If the cheque is gonna be late once ok fine no big deal. I probably budgeted enough to cover it. But you can't use that analogy of slow pay to gain a brighter future . Go to paclease and tell em you're gonna be late with a few payments but don't worry . Cause in 15 years I'm gonna go buy 3 brand new trucks and see how that works out.
I'm not on anyone's side here. They both did wrong. I'm on the side of the trucking industry. We can't have OO demanding un realistic things from carriers. And we can't have carriers expecting the OO to fund our growth.

@windsmith - You have hit a large part of what hurt us. We were too trusting. And had we stayed that course you would be reading thread about our complete flame out.

For those of you that question or look for more response from me in this and other threads. What I learned many years ago on TTR (again, the hard way) is that you can't win a war against Trolls and ghosts. It will never matter what I say because they will always have some come back.

And when someone is hiding who they are then there is now way for me to defend myself. I know who the OP is here and can be very specific about our side. That lets people make a decision on the validity of each persons position.

But when people are hiding, well, they know that they can say whatever they want and I have no way of proving they are lying.

So BBB of 2011 would have obsessed in a flame war but since then I have lost 100 lbs and the obsession to respond to every bomb thrown my way.

REAL, owner operators sometimes wait weeks even months, 90 days, to get paid. We budget for that and use factoring sometimes.

I think this company is doing the last swirl before going down.

Gotta say though, that it is encouraging to see the captain straddling the last bits as they disappear.

I think that Bill has the resources to stay the course. He's smart enough to have not played all his cards yet.

Also, this is the time of year that freight begins to pick up again.

I was gonna say that. What's up with this weekly settlement deal. No wonder guys act like company drivers. @BigBadBill is treating them too much like employees. Bill trim the fat and get back to your loyal guys and watch how much easier your life is gonna get.

I wouldn't worry too much about it bill. When he complained you tried to pay with a tch check i almost burst out laughing. You could of handed him his check in cash and he would still be complaining it wasn't direct deposit.

I also agree with your post above about getting in arguements with trolls and ghosts. There is no upside for you, no matter what you say or do some will continue to attack and bash you. But don't sweat it, any people that will let a few trolls and ghost accounts keep them away from signing on with you...well you didn't want that kind of operator anyway. That type of truck owner is the very reason you are having this bump in the road.

Next time I'm going through Chattanooga with time to spare, I'm buying you a drink or two. We can put it on face book. That will really give them something to cry about. "Bills out partying it up!"
