There is no regulation pertaining to "two log books" for one driver. There is mention of a team operation where both drivers can not be "Driving Line 1" at the same time....but that is only in an "example" statement.

I've never had to show anything to a perspective employer in regards to verifiable miles. And verifiable experience they will check out by contacting previous companies. So I wouldn't get to excited unless they tell you that's exactly what they want, documentation of miles.

LOL!!!! You go ahead and try running two logs books. You'll enjoy the look on the face of the DOT officer when he asks for your logs and you say " here, I run two books ". Do come back on here and tell us of your joyous experience with that, lol.

    Why?
A couple of times a year I download my logs from the Qualcomm site. I don't print them out, just save them, in case I get audited.

I didn't say you can, what I said was that there is no regulation pertaining to running multiple logs by one driver. What the regs do say is that a log must contain: current duty status of the driver, and a list of other required entries on the log...company name and address, date, truck number, trailer(s) used/using numbers, commodity and shipper, etc. etc. etc...and a driver must have in possession the previous 7 days of logs.

So using this requirement, (previous 7 days in possession), what if a driver worked for more than one carrier? Each carrier has their own printed log book. Now, on Monday and Tuesday, this driver works for "X Company", on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday works for "Y Company"... this driver runs two log books, and must combine the logs total hours to be in compliance in the recap. (Yes, I know a recap is not required, but is a convenient tools for keeping track of hours used and hours available.) So this driver is running "multiple logs", one for "X Company", one for "Y Company"...
Actually, this is no different than having a paper log and the e-log on board at the same time...they will be close but not an exact copy for the simple reason, the e-log runs minute by minute time, and the paper runs in 15 minute blocks....they can never be exact!
We have been "practicing with" e-logs for 2 years, while also maintaining a current paper log....stupid yes, but company calls the shots...nothing illegal or "against the rules" about doing it.
Here are the regs for logs:
