The laminated rand mcnally motor carrier atlas is $50+ but the paper one is under $20 will that work? I can't afford that right now but i can swing $20. Will it be ok for about a month or so until i make money?

I bought a laminated 2016 one for about $ 20 not too long ago.
If you have to go out with a trainer, just use theirs so you don't clutter the truck up.

Look around at several truck stops.....I got my last laminated for a little over 20 bucks...
They last for several years at least.
    Also check online...

It's ok, it's tempting but my advice is not to take equity out your house to invested in an atlas. They depreciate every year

Paper will work. As long as it is motor carrier atlas.

I just don't want to invest so much money before i start without even knowing if this trucking job will work out. After a month in my own truck i will gladly invest in my career.

Truck stops are usually the best place to catch them cheap! I think my last one was on sale at a Wilco...
Just keep your eye out and you will find a deal.
Later this year the 2016 ones will get less and less.

I liked the laminated ones because you can spill coffee and soda on them and still use them.

You know, like when your filling your coffee cup with the thermos while cruising at the double nickel and you spill 5 % on the overfill, or you grab the soda cup, it slips in your hand and you wind up squeezing it hard enough for the top to come off and the soda comes out.

Hell I am still using the paper one from 2 years ago. they last just fine. But then I also pick up the FREE maps at rest areas because they are bigger and I can usually find the road I am looking for. They also tend to have more roads on those too.

I just pick up the ones from the states that I frequent
