I love the "learn the system" speeches lol. There is no real system unless you have a crystal ball (or a broker giving you inside information and telling you when they will post the load). Or have legions of friends and family scouring the load board constantly for you.

A heap of games are played here. Basically you have to find a way to be more sneaky than the next guy.

I really feel bad for the drivers that pull vans. Rebrokered JB Hunt and Schnieder loads.....and many others. There is no shame....Mercer puts these loads right out there and tells you it's from JB and Schneider. What a crying shame. I can't really be down on Mercer for this......its their niche. Its what they do. And yes they do it to flat bed loads too.

Just spent some time with seasoned owner operators that came over to Mercer after hearing the tales of solid freight, rates and customers. Ease of paper work....blah blah blah. Well They are leaving and getting their authority back. Basically They were angry that they were lied to and fed a line of garbage just to get an OO in the door. These people were not stupid. They were mad at themselves and felt they should not have fallen for Mercers
sales pitch. Then they showed me thier settlements and an OO with their own authority....then showed me Mercers......it was really sad. Basically both of them are leaving because they will not canabalize thier business at Mercer.

What a shame.

 

Well for one how can an O/O with their own authority compare settlements with a truck that's leased? That's like comparing an O/O to a company drivers pay
