I want to become a o/o as a second career. I can afford a new truck, but business wise is it better to do a full maintenance lease or pay cash for a new one (or a glider) and sell it/trade in when the warranties run out?

Well, I was thinking $130-160,000 range.

How long are you intending to commit to your second career?

Short term, a lease may be better - longer term , buy.

Is your first career in the trucking industry? I'm just a company driver so I don't know but I'm sure most of the O/O's on here will tell you it's a full time gig owning a truck.

Yeah - good question. How many bases do you have covered right now?

If I had more money than a bull can produce, there's still a bunch of hurdles in the way before you can bounce from one field to another.

And most involve regulations and insurance.

I'm guessing in response to @blairandgretchen 's first post. Still doesn't answer much
