Not doing the load. Wasted a full day trying to get the right information needed to haul it. Decided its more trouble than its worth. I do not have the experience or resources needed to do a load like this properly.

    It's a good exercise - learning experience.

A waste of time is looking at the load and not even taking a look at the requirements.

A man has to know his limitations. The only fantasies I really have are about winning the powerball jack pot and living a jetset lifestyle.

When it comes to trucking, I'm a realist, I know where my strengths are, what I am comfortable with doing and how far I am willing to explore in order to try something a little more demanding.

If I even remotely believe that I may make an expensive mistake doing a load because I do not have the experience needed to know all the angles, or that a load will cost me money or lost time,. I wont do it. I'm out here to make money,.. not waste time (Time is money to me) and not make mistakes that could endanger commuters, myself and above all else,.. lose money in the process. I've worked too hard for the little bit that I have.

Will give you credit on that Hurst
Did it call for a step or DD. Then thinking it could fit.. but you did your homework
FL . might not even give a permit for 16
Plus when they see it on a step it might of gotten shut down at the scale
Then guess who pays the crane and then someone else to get the ld.
Then they hear I'm at the scale and need a different trl.. dollar sign start rolling

They had it posted as SDO (Step Deck Oversize). Its a house boat. I'm of the opinion it should go on an rgn. I think it was 38' long.. so its going to need a long well or one that can stretch. Plus cribbing to keep it stable. The height is what made me pass on it. I'd rather do 16' wide than 16' tall. Plus,.. I've lived in Fla almost 23 yrs and have never been south of Miami. So I have no idea what I would be up against taking something that size down there.

Its not that I am incapable. Just finished this one today.
    15'1 tall, 12' wide

Hurst, I hope that was TX. Some other states all the cars and pickups and overhead wire truck would cost haif a gold mine

How can you stand to pull that without mirror extentions? Or do you have some? I pulled a 14 wide trailer a while back and even though I had rear pilot car not seeing what was going on behind me drove me nuts and it was only a 5 mile move.

Picked up in Longview, Tx,.. went to Beaumont, Ms. Tx was easy as all bridges are marked. La and Ms,.. not so much. Pole car not needed till above 15'7. Broker offered to cover pole car if state deemed it necessary.

I stuck to the permit routes,.. set my GPS to avoid anything under 15'4,.. and pretty much just paced slow trucks the whole way and watched the clearance between the top of their van and the bridges,.. if it looked close,.. I would take the exit and cross over to the other side that way. Luckily only 1 looked close and it had an exit before it. GPS said it was ok,.. but I still made the choice to exit. This was the tallest load I have ever done on my own.
