If you net 82, and are home every day, went would you want to make a change? On the flat bed side I could net over a hundred, but I'd have to spend too much time on the road than I want to. Can't speak for the van side. I don't pull boxes.

Running skateboard, reason I'm looking to change is we lost a couple of major contracts & the new contracts as good, just weighing my options out.

That's what trucking is about. When things are going great. One of 3 things will probably happen.
1. Someone will cut your rate.
2. shipper/receiver will go broke
3. shipper/receiver will move to Mexico/China
To succeed in this industry, you must adapt and keep adapting until your so old you don't have to adapt any more.Lone Ranger 13, Highway Sailor, Razorwyr and 3 others Thank this. -
I hear that! The only co I would consider moving to would be mercer, I don't want to make a hasty decision.Mudguppy Thanks this.

If the tanks are top draw, which I'm sure they are, the fuel return valve probably put most of the returned fuel into one tank. Pretty common problem on a lot of newer trucks.
Back in the old days everything had a crossover line. Which, if you were low on fuel and parked on a sideways slope, you could go to sleep with 1/3 of a tank on the high side, and wake up empty. I had one run out sitting on the shoulder of the road while idling that way.Last edited: Jun 6, 2016
Highway Sailor and mtoo Thank this. -
All trucks should have 2 fuel gauges, then you know if there is a problem developing. It's not overly difficult to install a 2nd gauge. Especially if it already has a switch to monitor L/R tanks from one gauge.

I was asking myself something like that. Would it be possible to get a vapor lock or restriction between the fuel line between the tanks and fuel filter? Preventing the truck to start and then when fuel was put into the filter that would create a vacuum and start drawing fuel from the tanks ? I'm just trying to understand why this happened.

I would love to get rid of those guards. But sadly, I'm still a company driver and can't do that. Also I have had on occasion where it would draw from one tank. Most of the time it was the tank with the fuel gage. I think you nailed it with drawing from the one tank and sucking air.
