West Virginia all scales open...long line in. Was good in Virginia and north Carolina. 5 years driving and never got an inspection...but I have a feeling my luck is about to run out this year

I got pulled over for a roadside Level II on I-15 in MT this morning. So far so good, the Inspector was very kind and respectful. Although he got kinda mad, when I asked him if my inspection was a part of the Blitz. He said, that it actually wasn't and that the Blitz is not focusing on Level II. Later on, the Butte scale on I-90/I-15 was wide open, and they had close to 10 trucks pulled in, still rolling everyone thru anyways.

There was an accident on June 7 at about 16:00 hrs, NB scales mm 28 of I-85 on NC caused by the backed up truck traffic because of the "Blitz". Heavy rush hour traffic, too many trucks trying to get into right lane, one truck tangles with another competing for scarce pavement.
"Safety Blitz" caused it. NC scales normally closed there at rush hour because of dangerous heavy traffic.
Won't see that anywhere in the trucking propoganda.MidwestResident and pete1 Thank this. -
A few years back, another real bad accident happened at the exact same spot for the exact reason. A bus was involved and I think that a fatality was involved. It only shows that safety is not "the name of the game". And I can recall when N.C. was one of the better truck friendly states in the nation, but it is just the reverse now.

Pulling trucks in ...the abandoned /empty scale house...I-71 south in Ohio
pete1 Thanks this. -
Now watch, someone will claim something like this "We prevented 246 crashes and 74 fatalities because of the trucks we put out of service for the safety blitz" Of course, those numbers coming from violations found such as you had one clearance light out and "reduced visibility" - we therefore prevented someone from wedging their car under your ICC bar. Maybe you didn't have perfect tape L shapes at the top corners on the back of your tractor. Prevented another massacre ...lol Maybe they will find that driver that drove 11 hours and 8 minutes and just execute him in advance of the pileup he will cause.
