I have been inspected and they wanted my Elogs faxed to them. Every time they see an E next to your times, they know you Edited the log. But another thing I noticed was on the printout, if you go over drive time ,it will not change color to red or otherwise look any different than legal logs. It is up to the officer to figure out when you started your 14 and whether you drove past your 14 or 11 or 70 or 8.

I wasnt aware that a big E shows up where you edit the log.

The company I worked for gave no option....certify at the end of the day unless logged out and on home time. But like I said, big companies prefer a driver to seek help from the staff. Plus they must have the current logs in the system when monitoring Hours available tomorrow so they can plan your next load for you.
Hope you found the answer you were looking for. -

I run a software app on my tablet called BigRoad. It's not connected through the ecm port, yet.
I've been inspected twice in the last several months in California. The first one was just a paper check, that guy raved about how nice those "elogs" are on devices like mine, never looked at anything.
Not that he would have found anything...
The most recent level 3 inspection, I just held the tablet and he said he didn't need to see anything.
I've been more scrutinized on paperlogs than I ever have since running my logs on the tabletJdm5jdm5 Thanks this. -
What any DOT officer or other LEO asks for and what is the official DOT requirement are completely different.
IIRC one has 24 hours to finalize logs and certify them. Change of duty status must be current at all times, but flags and some other details can be added/corrected within that time period.
