Hi guys..thx in advance..I do not have a cdl, but looking at schools and companies that help you become a driver. I would really like to become a chemical truck driver or maybe a water truck driver. From what I have researched, there aren't really any companies that help get your cdl for chem or water trucks. In have no problem going to school..but if someone has some info to share what the best way to go is, I would greatly appreciate it.
Tell me about chem or water truck

Schneider hires new drivers, and they have a tanker division. Depending on what you want to do you may need to get some tanker experience and certainly some tractor trailer experience before hauling the good stuff, so focus first on getting the license and experience.

Are a lot of the Chen trucks auto trans?

Uh oh. You just opened a can of worms.
My advice, learn to drive manual. Period. If you get a job that has automatics, you'll easily adjust. Much harder to go the other way. Don't limit yourself, only a fraction of trucks are automatic. Don't limit your opportunities to that fraction.insertnamehere Thanks this. -
Yeah if I go to cdl school I'm gonna have to learn standard for a truck I just got the vibe that a lot of them are automatic.

Couldn't agree with Lepton more. Learn on manual transmission, auto's are increasing in popularity.....but they're still a minority out there. I work for a chem hauling company and we have none. Chaoss is also correct....Schneider has an excellent training program for bulk hauling, though being a mega carrier they're not for everyone. But if you go through their training and give them a year or two, you'll be able to move to pretty much any chem hauling company out there. Some companies will hire you after a couple of years driving non-tanker and train you for bulk; but if you're just starting from square 1, you're better off learning bulk from the beginning.
insertnamehere and Lepton1 Thank this.
