I really don't care who gets the money, as long as they are the ones under the lesson. The companies that are notorious for false reporting should be under it also. They all worship the dollar, that's the best way to make them feel some pain.

Yeah but is it all worth it. Big companies wont go out of business because the judge might rule them guilty for playing wrong with others. If it were a legit fine, I should be awarded more than 47 dollars. These itty bitty fines wont even put a hole in there pocket.

Guys, its not a fine against the POS companies that use Hireright, its a judgement against Hireright that says they have to pay a large sum of money to those who were injured by their business practices. Granted, the individual payouts are peanuts compared to the damage they caused, but the total of all those $54 checks adds up to a considerable sum of money, which puts a genuine hurt on them. So, for once, think about something other than just yourself and try to realize that this settlement did, indeed, get their attention and, in the future just may be the incentive for them to do things honorably. I know, I'm tilting at windmills, but just maybe this will have the desired effect. Just my .02 worth.

They were another name before, and the gooberment got in their face for millions. Then they became hireright. Now lawyers are going after them.

I, for one, would like to see their business practice dissolve. To be never heard from again.

I'd like to know how they got started, when they got started, and who allowed them to start to begin with. I know there's some type of gooberment laws being broken. Particularly credit reporting laws.

Well, not to sound negative here but if the ruling is overturned by a court of appeals then Hireright's lawyers can come back and collect money from all of the people who were paid.

I have seen this twice in the last 10 years. That is why I am always leery about class action lawsuits.

one of at lest 2 possibilities, 1) an employer ran a report on you, which would be normal. 2) maybe you did at one time request a report from them, and forgot about it. either way, you are in thier files. could be too, that in your particular situation, you were denied a job, due to something on your file, you were unaware of.

again, this is why i'd highly recommend that drivers request the yearly free report, and check things out.

Got the letter today also. That makes I think 3 notifications over the last couple of years. This settlement still has to be approved by the court and there is the possibility of an appeal even if the court approves..so it could get lengthy.
