Ill admit to have flinched a bit when a bird hit the front, but I kept the truck steady. now if one made it through the window it takes a cool customer not to #### themselves.

When I read the first paragraph I thought 4:15 am...bull #### this guy fell asleep and blamed it on a bird.
Sounds like the owl actually broke through the window, an event like that at 4:15 in the morning would probably put a lot of us in the ditch lol especially on that road.

I'll admit, as much as i hope I'd keep steady, there might be a minimum of some skidding.

And yeah, at first you wanna call BS, but it said the thing was on the floor. During the witching hour, crap road; a recipe for disaster.

Always carry a slingshot so if you rollover, quickly run out in the woods and kill a bird and bust your windshield and throw the bird in the truck. CYA drivers!

Like everyone else, I was thinking no way. Good thing he had the bird for evidence to back up his statement!

Just another reason to make sure you are zipped up. You just can't tell what will happen, even in the privacy of your truck!:biggrin_2559:

A driver I know had a bald eagle come through the windshield and end up in the passenger seat. Pulled to the shoulder, called for road service, then called 911. He had to wait for the game warden to come and collect the carcass AND account for all the feathers. There's quite a market for eagle feathers.

Owls do fly at night. They have great night vision and they fly silently. On I-205 thru Tracy CA many times driving at night I have seen great big 4 foot wing span owls swoop by the windshield. Field mice like to run across the freeway all the time, which attracts owls. During the day the mice which were squished by tires are eaten by crows playing chicken with traffic.

The one that took my mirror off my pickup truck one night must have had cataracts.
