Well I just got back from my first week of driving with a trainer, with TMC. I like being out and seeing the new places but I hated driving through New Jersey and Manhattan. We went from WV to KY, then on to RI, PA, OH and the back to WV. We where in the back woods of WV, 2 lanes 7% grades and nasty curves, but all in all I enjoyed it. I do believe I will like doing this for a career. There where a few inconsiderate drivers(18 wheel) but yoiu will have that. 1 about took the nose clear off our tractor, Even tho his lane was clear he decided to switch without looking in a construction zone going up the mountains. I was empty and he was loaded pretty good(traveling 35) I was doing 55(legal speed) I won't mention any names as to who it was company wise that is but I do believe he was thinking Sure Wish I Finished Training.
Anyway I do think it will be a good career for me, and for any other drivers who drive for the unnamed company, i know he was just a jack ###, and that he is one of the few who give you a bad name.(wasn't taking a stab at the company, or other company drivers just him)
back from first week of training

Sounds like fun so far
. I have never driven in Jersey or NYC, and I am certainly not looking forward to it, if I ever have too. Good luck with it, and keep us posted on your TMC experiences, I am very interested in that company.

Well I am back from my second week of road training, and have to say I enjoy it...still. The only thing I don't like is being from home. They have treated me good so far. I can say they do seem to treat there drivers good. The bad part about it I have seen is that some of the van drivers I have seen and talk to us bout flatbedding could not ever do it. They have a hard enough time walking from the fuel island to the fuel desk. So far the bad I have seen.... you get dirty, greasy, wet, hot, cold, what ever the weather is, and that almost every load we have came across so farhas to be tarped. The tarping really isn't that bad it's the folding it back up when you are at the consignee.... I do believe I will stay with them for awhile.

My trainer keeps asking me are you sure you have never drove a semi before.... I am not getting ####y he just thinks that I am have takin to it like a duck to water. All in all If you are wanting to pull a skateboard, Go with TMC they hve treated me good and even made sure i was home this weekend for our Fifth year wedding anniv. Thank you for all your encouragement and see you out there. I will check back in when I get back with my truck.
