One time I registered with a temp. service in Tennessee. By the time I got home the phone was ringing. The lady said,"We have two jobs for right now; a run to California or local work delivering to grocery stores." I chose the local option because that's what I needed at the time. Lots of permanent jobs obtained by starting as a temp, and doing a good job!

LBCC is helping us with placement.... but I will look into temp if nothing works out. I wouldn't mind working for UPS.

If you're end goal is a top of the line company driver job, you would have a hard time doing better than ups. It might be a long slow climb up the seniority ladder, but that is true at any good place to work.

Hey Scotty! DHE is only starting a rookie program and it is only out of the San Leandro terminal (LTL). Very similar to what ABF does....hire the Class C driver to work on the docks and learn the "trailer/freight" side, along with the caveat that the individual attains his/her CDL from any local school within 2-3 months. With a valid CDL permit some training/practice time in a day cab and pup. Once they get their CDL, then they will be available to fill openings in the fleet.
There are some things happening that have me thinking they are considering moving to a "training type" company. The recent applicants with "experience" aren't proving to be working out all that well.Big Don Thanks this. -
OK I wasn't sure. I had applied to DHE last month along with many other companies. DHE recruiter said you guys do a lot of regional? I talked to so many recruiters I can't keep them straight. Anyway the guy was only offering $0.41 a mile for my 6 years experience, I felt was way too low.otherhalftw Thanks this.
