The 710 model was never a really good model to begin with,it was put out too soon after the 700 model and never worked as it should. It doesn't have the memory and processing power to run the current operating system with all it's truck specific apps so it's probably time to upgrade it anyways.
As with all electronic gadgets it's obsolete at the time it hits the market with the rate at which technology is moving forward I don't think any of us can keep up to it.
I don't think any other Electronic company is doing any better, they all have their pro's and con's but at least Mark is on this site to help people out,No one else for any of the other brands is doing this.

Like I mentioned, I will probably replace it. I took apart enough 710's to fix and do not really want to tear into another one... much easier to replace.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Here is a Genius Idea to pass along to RM ....OFFER SOME TRADE IN VALUE ON OLDER UNITS WHEN PURCHASING ANOTHER GPS. Most folks have to buy 2 units (one Primary/one for Backup) in case you have to send one back in for repair. Heck I am using my slowwww 720 dinosaur while my 730 is back east for repair.

I believe they have done that in the past, usually around the time that GATS is on.However, how many electronic companies will take trade inns when a new model comes out?Usually you either buy a new unit and sell the old one privately or just keep it as a backup unit. They are in the business of making $$$$$ and are banking on the consumer to want the latest and greatest no matter what the cost.
As with Cell Phones,if I want the latest and greatest I get practically nothing back for my old one even though it was the latest and greatest not too long ago.

    Mark Kling Thanks this.

Noticed something interesting today that might relate to why I have been having false ETA times.
Even though the clock on the main screen showed the proper time, this view shows PST time even though it recognizes that I am in MST.
Didn't start showing proper time until crossing into actual PST time zone.
No I did not photograph the first picture while driving, my legal HOS codriver did on her free time without causing distraction, loss of control, or loss of vision.

Ok so I have one of the 1st Generation Rand Tablets, build 20150401. It use to tell me that the tablet is up to date when hitting check for update but it does not tell me that anymore. I cant remember the last time it had a map update, or even construction update. Data Verification shows Navi Date: 2015-09-08. 8 invalid files. (About.Txt, mcra_phonenumbers.txt, TellRand_English.txt, English/Help.txt, poi.db, tollcost.db, and French and Spanish MCRA_phonenumbers.txt.)

    Verified Files are...
    Laucher 2.27.1-truck
    Dash Cam 3.0.3
    RM Services 2.12.0
    OnBoarding 2.5.0
    GPS Voices 1.1
    Let's Truck 2.1.5
    GPS Quick Planner 1.0
    Transflow 1.6.0.37
    ProfitGauges 2.0.4
    Trip Maker 2.16-truck
    Motor Carriers' Road Atlas 2.61
    Truck It Smart 1.0
    Rand McNally market 6.19
    Flipboard 3.3.6
    Truck GPS 1.0.28.3791
    E-Logs 2.4
    GPS Toll Data 1.3

I'm running into some areas where there is no map data, for rather large customers. Like Walmart DCs and some other refridgerated distribution centers. Where even the roads in the area do not exist on the database. I know its kind of verbotten to speak of other products, but I'm running another GPS side by side (It rhymes with Marvin), and they have updated maps 3 times in the span of the about 6 months I've had it: The update after purchase, and two quarterly. And they get thiers from HERE too, so I tested the missing addresses and maps and they are showing up on that unit, after not showing up in an earlier map version.

Kind of at a loss here on what to do, or if there is nothing that can be done because no updates have been released for the TNDT80. I'd really like to keep the TND as my primary and Marvin as a backup, mostly because it has the built in dashcam and other tools I like, like the fuel tracking through ProfitGauges. And even the new E-Log dongle that could replace my ScanGuageD as it would have the info displayed on my GPS about my truck that I would normally have on that unit.

Any suggestions on what may or may not need to be done to the device?

Anybody know how to import poi files into the Randy McNally tablet. On the TND's you could import custom poi files through the dock. The GPS would announce the upcoming POI's.
Can this be done on the tablet?

I don't have the TND Tablet but as it is a small computer I would think that you could download the custom files to your PC to a folder or your desktop, then you could hook up your tablet to the PC and drag and drop those files to the appropriate folder located within the TND GPS program. There is probably already a folder there called Custom POI as I have that folder on my TND 730.
    Hope that helps.
