I'm just glad they have hot or very warm water. I also get that some are built in rural areas with less than ideal water supply. But I also get some were just built "on the cheap" with smaller pipe and smaller heaters then is called for. The water temperature and water heater appliance and valves is about all they (management) can control. Improper sizing of pipe is going to require a complete rebuild of the property and isn't going to happen any time soon.

I also hate how you'll find many toilets with 1.5 inch supply that flush and are very slow to close .... and flush wide open for 8+ seconds, causing nearby shower patrons to get a better sense of how hot the hot water is.

George Washington was the problem all along ya know. If he didn't ride his horse so much, we could actually regulate water temperature before truckers got burned.

Showered at the Pilot in Inver Grove, MN the other day and every time a toilet would flush in one of their showers, the water in the other rooms would get hot as hell.

Also when I flushed the toilet, it would flush itself twice in one cycle - meaning it would flush as normal, fill the tank half way and flush again then fill the tank completely. Very strange!

To me, it is perfectly normal to get a shower with no hot water, no cold water, no pressure, too much pressure, a broken shower head, or no shower head at all. A lot of the showers that use one handle for cold and hot water are well worn or broken, some spin 360 degrees. It's so normal to have the pressure drop suddenly or have the temperature change without warning that i just keep showering and ignore it. I've been shocked by cold water and scalded by hot water so many times in truck stop showers that i always considered it a job hazard, just like the showers in the barracks in the Military.

I think it is Belgrade Montana that uses the tankless on demand hot water heaters. The water goes through a natural gas or propane heater deal and is heated to the proper temperature as needed. Never ending hot water that can be set to the perfect temperature so you don't have to wait and mix in cold water, you just turn it on, if there were a water handle, it is going to have a few temps on it from blue to red, just set it to what you like and it will stay there.

I guess you just didn't think to check the water temperature before you stepped into the shower I learned that when I was 6 years old

Most All truck stops today have tankless unlimited water heaters... They have to. We fuel exclusively at PFJ and so it's rare I shower at a Loves or petro/TA but I must confess that most of the PFJ shower valves are consistent until you get into the various dealers like out west (Town Pump, Broadway, etc) then you see some other modes of water delivery in use still that lack a lot to be desired.

The Town Pump Pilot in Columbus, MT. ... The shower room sinks have hand motion activated water that barely dribbles out warm water. Shaving was an exercise in frustration.
