Back in January I ended up rolling my truck but do not have any real memory of the event and was in the hospital for 2 days. All I recall is not bejng able to steer and I know I wasnt tired because I had spent the last 3 days on a very very very light schedule. I wasnt cited and the company claimed they thought I was at fault so I have a preventable but again I wasnt cited or ticketed by the state dot. Is there any recourse or something I should have done to dispute it?

If you're talking about dac or hire right, u can dispute it, but since u said u have no memory to what happen....well there's goes your open argument
fatherofthree Thanks this. -
Thats what I figured, sucks because it court its innocent until proven guilty but private crap like hireright isnt required to follow the same unless you take them to court. Figured I would ask, never hurts.

and hopefully the company doesn't respond in the 30 days necessary.fatherofthree and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
What you have to remember is that the steering failed. It was a mechanical failure because of poor maintenance done by the Company. While the accident was preventable it was only preventable by the uncaring negligent company. Look into my eyes, you are getting sleepy, when you wake up, you will remember it was the companies fault.

Not to be the red herring,.. but if something like steering failure,.. shouldnt that have been caught during a pre-trip?
I cant imagine something like that not being able to be detected by proper inspection.
Not pointing fingers,.. but if I can think of this,.. so would someone else.
I've had drivers tell me that they have bad brakes or other dangerous issues with their truck. Yet I see them still driving it. If you knowingly drive a truck with mechanical issues and wreck,.. the driver is at fault.

Rollovers are generally preventable. Probably compounded with 5000 or more in damage.
Im going to go easy on you this morning because you do not recall the details leading to the roll over.
Once in a while something breaks really badly (For lack of a better term) really fast. If you can some how retrieve the report made post roll over to that particular truck, it may hold the clues to repairs made.
Sometimes it's totaled.
Most of the time... roll overs simply are preventable because we are the first and last line of a defense against a roll over.
Good luck to you.

Q : I have used many services to look for a driving job but I'm having no luck at all. What would keep me from finding a truck driving job?
If you are having more difficulties than normal, there may be something in your driving record, MVR or DAC that is holding you back. The following are examples of items that might keep a company from contacting you for employment:

10 years or older felony conviction
Child pornography related conviction
Convicted of a violent crime
Firearm related conviction
Murder / Rape / Misconduct / Burglary / Robbery / Capital Theft conviction
Assault & Battery
Conviction/ investigated / or suspected of involvement in of terrorist activities
Currently on probation or parole
More than $5,000 of damage from a preventable accident in last 5 years
3 or more moving violations in last 3 yrs
3 or more preventable accidents in last 5 years
Truck abandonment in last 5 years
License suspension is less than 3 years old
1 or more moving violations over 15 mph in last 3 years

Ya it was a 2012 Volvo VNL64T with over 400k on it and was only at most a few months from being traded in. I have had various problems with the truck over the time I drove it and to clarify I am the type of driver that gets to the closest place to replace a headlight in the middle of the day ( lights always on ) and since I started driving on 2011 when I was given the Iowa DOT pretrip inspection card ( that you can have on hand during your test ) and even though I know it front to back I always have and will read it line for line as I do my inspections. Not that your comment made me angry just explaining me but I fully get how you can ponder that because of how many douche steering wheel holders out there. Ive always done and a pre and post trip so as to catch problems during my 8/10 break then having to go oh s... lol but ya they claimed they couldnt find a problem with it yet I know what I recall and I know I was wide awake and bushy tailed as I was jamming out on Sum41 for the hour and a half prior ( Spotify downloaded music, bluetooth adapter for the truck not headphones ) again how the heck can someone drive a semi with earphones in, it irrateded me having a bluetooth in one ear lol but back to the topic at hand how do I dispute it and whats the process?
As for the rollover itself I prided myslef on my driving ability and it hurts me more then most as my grandfather died in a wreck just over a decade ago so to me being a professional driver is something I take highly. I agree a rollover should be preventible in most cases and I wish I knew expactly the events leading up to it I dont so I cant really argue anythi g with you on it but sadly you have a point that a rollover normally falls on the driver to correct and in most cases can be. What sucks in I had a camera in the truck although I had accidently broke the mount a few days early so it was sitting in my drawer in the sleeper. Next time I wont go anywhere without it being safely gerry rigged if need be. Im all for personal cameras but still hate company cameras.
An update on me I found a couple companies within 3 hours whiling to give me a shot so I am happy as it is right now but we will see as time moves on, they are not overly updated on the ones im looking at so it was something that was needed anyway lol.Last edited: Aug 13, 2016
