Trucking application for jobs is a funny monster. First there is a checkmark area, "May We Contact Your Previous Employer-- Y or N"
The funny thing is the driver may choose N, but as soon as that happens, no truck company may hire said driver who denies permission to contact previous employer. It is a catch 22 deal.
I found this out after applying to several companies over a long period of time, and zero ziltch nada callbacks from recruiters. Then I heard about the Y N deal and changed all my apps to Y and boom the phone wouldn't stop ringing.
So what you probably have to do is allow companies to contact Schneider. Schneider in turn is only allowed to respond with very general info like yes that driver worked here from this date to that date and or is (or not) eligible for rehire.
If your drug test came back clean they really have no reason to fire you, you might actually have a case of wrongful termination there. -
Wow, great info. thanks ! only issue is that Schneider has a form that potential employers are able to access online (they don't actually speak to potential employers) and on that form are "driver dispute notes" where I describe in vivid detail my situation. I was completely unaware that it would be attached to employment verification at the time and have requested that they be deleted.

"failure to comply with company policy" Did they question you about smoking marijuana and you just felt compelled to tell them you smoked at some point in the last five years? Also "within the last 5 years" could mean last month for all anyone knows..
Did you fail their hair follicle test and they found something from years ago? Yes the test can find it from years past if you had long hair. Sorry but something about your posts aren't adding up... -
Not a problem, The first day of orientation was basic forms physical/drug screens urine/follicle all passed no issues. Later that day was a questionnaire, and on that was a question about drug use, it was an open ended question, meaning no time frame that asked have you ever smoked marijuana. Because i was confident about passing my drug tests I had no problem answering the question honestly. I stated the last time I smoked (on my 50th b-day) was last year. I'm not a regular user and have not indulged since H.S. but was with some retired H.S. friends back home and took a couple of puffs.

Well that sucks...and it puts you in a bind for sure. Next time just say no unless you are being hooked up to a polygraph
Probably best imo, to just fess up to what they'll find out from Schneider if you authorize them to disclose the reason. Or find a company that won't even check DAC..
Honesty got you in trouble, maybe it'll get you out of it..Last edited: Aug 12, 2016

You could always work for a owner operator for awhile till someone else will hire you.

You are off drugs now? I hope so. Good luck. Try USA Truck.

I got into a bad dispatcher once with Hazmat. I have never had trouble with Hazmat. Dispatcher would break my nuts bypassing a city on a bypass route for Hazmat Loads, because it makes him wait an extra 40 minutes until I can arrive at his desk and be chewed out and bawled out properly.
I turned in my Hazmat endorsement the next day. Now the dispatcher got REALLY angry.
That was a long time ago. They hate it when little *&^%'s like me resolve a problem created and made worse by them.
You should as others have stated not volunteer information. I enjoyed certain substances in my time prior to 1994 and even today as far as trucking is concerned it did not happen.
But to open mouth and volunteer information? That is a no no Kind Sir, please don't open mouth and volunteer information.rachi Thanks this.
