Tire maintenance is a mystery to me.

    I own a 1996 international 4900 DT466 GVWR 30000
the tires are 11R22.5 front and back, dualy in the rear.

    1. What PSI do I keep them at?
    2. When do I need to replace them?
    3. where do I buy them and who dose the work and what can I expect to pay?
    4. If I break down who do I call for road assistance?
If I missed any other important tire issues please inform me.

Well a tire shop would be an obvious place to start when looking for tires lol. They'll do the tire change outs as well. They're most often the people you'd call if you blow a tire out on the road.

I usually air them up to whatever pressure it says on the sidewall.

You need to replace them if they are worn out (can't remember the spec), missing parts of the tread, tread cap seperating from the casing, cuts that are into the cords (the belting inside the tire) or large bulges. Holes through the tread face can often be repaired but a hole in the sidewall I don't believe can be fixed.

Rust streaks from the wheel nuts often indicate loose nuts.

Hard to say. Best bet would be to Google tire shops in your area to find out what they service.

I am also not an expert on anything mechanical. I do know how to fix anything with a cell phone and a credit card. Love's seems to be set up for tires more then the other big truck stops. They have a lane you can pull into an some kid with pimples comes out and measures and fills your tires. I trust those young kids because it keeps them off the streets.

The truck stop has a truck stop directory set in alphabetical order, all the states and provinces. Turn to the page the state you're in and it will show truck stops nearest you with amenities such as food, tires, washouts, whatever.

Another source would be the randmcnally GPS, has all kinds of tools-- hits point of interest/my truck/truck center or truck dealer, or 'more' and all kinds of things show up to help you.

Absolutely stuck and no idea what to do? call 9-1-1 and they can help you with the nearest tire repair on the side of the road.

1-There is a rating on the actual tire, I would use that to figure out what pressure to set it at.

2-When they are worn. If you have a cdl, then that should be on either the test you took or the Pretrip test.

3-at the tire store. This is where a phone book comes in. Also any truck stop will tell you if they have tires or where to find one.

4- that's what you do. Have a credit card ready.

What do you use this truck for?

2/32" on the back and 4/32" on the front for wear are the regulations.

I usually run the pressure that's on the sidewalk.

    Do you have a CDL?

    No CDL,
The Vehicle is registered at 25,500 GVWR.

Its an old reefer Box truck (See Avatar), I'm using it to move from state to state.

Are those measurements taken from the bottom of the groove to the surface?
