You worked for them 18 years ago and expect your experience to be relevant??? Yeah, OK...

Knight know they suck and are simply using this dumpster carrier for a stepping stone.[/QUOTE]

Well excuuuse me! I just finished CDL school (Charlotte, NC) and Knight was one of the companies who sent a recruiter to talk to us. (He also brought along a driver in a bobtail so we could see the rig.) On top of that, a few days ago I visited their terminal since it was only a few miles from my house.

You may look down your nose and sneer at those who apparently are not Harvard educated like you are, but some of you forget that there isn't exactly a plethora of companies out there that will hire inexperienced drivers so we are compelled to take a leap of faith and go with what's offered.

Furthermore, I've found that you can please all drivers some of the time and some drivers all the time, but you can't please all the drivers all the time - and that doesn't stop them from coming on here to grouse.

Your bad experience may not be what I will experience and I will have to find things out myself. However, in the meantime, you need not be so demeaning to those of us just starting out and have to take what's out there.

His experience is relevant because it shows a pattern of deception by Knight.

Really? And you base this on your vast experience you have gained having just graduated from CDL school?

    Gimme a break.

Your statement sounds like the type one would expect from a Knight office monkey.

Yea there are, I'll bet 10 carriers came to your CDL school. I'm sure the recruiter was a real "cool guy" too. You went with them because they have a terminal near your house it sounds like.

All the crap you deal with and the 2-3 days per week you give up uncompensated is not "just trucking" as you're about to hear constantly. It's really just Knight. Come back in a year after you get settled into your second employer and tell us how great Knight was. You'll be singing a much different tune.

That's rather.......harsh. I don't think I would make a decision based on someone's 18 year old experience, whether it's trying a restaurant, buying a car, or selecting a company to drive for.

If it sounds harsh it's because the comment I quoted (regarding not being able to please drivers) sounded like it came from someone working inside the office at a trucking company.

It is certainly not the type of comment one would expect from a new CDL holder, as missjane represented herself to be.

I worked for Knight Refrigerated a couple of years ago. I only lasted 7 months. I liked the long runs I received on the reefer side. No problems getting home. Pay was sliding pay scale. Not the best but could have been better. I decided to leave because of the maintenance. I was in three different trucks. All 455k+. All beat to death. None clean when I got them. First one, broke down. Towed to terminal. Picked up next one. Was in Columbus to get it serviced. After sitting for 24 hours and a write up 2 miles long, my dispatcher offered me a different truck instead of waiting. I took it, because it was a year newer than mine. Still had 455k miles but kind of, taken care of and decent. And the trailers are ridiculous. I can't count the number of trailers I'd pickup with flat tires, damaged, reefer wouldnt start, or the reefer would quit working in route. I guess it would be ok starter company like Prime.

Knight has a "robot", maybe not really, that recruits now, Summer Matte. The first email asked for info on what they could do to work with me. I took time to reply with details. No reply from them for a while, then another recruiting email from the robot-named-like-something-at-a-craft-store. No mention of my previous reply.

I copied and pasted my previous reply, sent it. Again a delay, then another recruiting email with no acknowledgement of my replies.

It's at 5 of them now, the first 4 I sent an identical detailed reply and heard nothing back referring to my interests. This has been my way to gauge how further interactions would go with them.
